round ligament pain (?) - Page 2

You are certainly NOT a crazy over-reactive mama, you just want to know that things are okay. You were sent conflicting messages by the different triage nurses, and now you probably feel left in limbo while waiting for your next appointment. I can totally understand that!

I do think it's reassuring to hear that spotting can be expected sometimes after sex.... and that some of the mamas in the group have also experienced some significant RL pain..... but the bottom line is that only you know your body, and even if the last triage nurse felt like there were no big red flags, you deserve comfort and reassurance/support to set your mind at ease. I think you're doing the right thing by following up with MyChart messages and/or calling.

Also-- maybe that full/achy feeling over your uterus is actually your uterus and the baby stretching out. For a few weeks I was waking up after a night and I'd find my belly/abdomen to be very sore. I've started using more pillows to support my body in a better position, and that has helped quite a bit.

Any way, still thinking of you and sending good thoughts. Keep us posted.

I would definitely call and not use the online system - it's a lot easier to be persistent in person.  I think that you should go in to make sure everything is okay.  You were worried, with reason, and just because the triage nurse doesn't think it's a big deal, doesn't mean that you shouldn't go in to make sure.  You need to advocate for yourself and for your growing LO in these situations - it's SO important!  There is no reason why they shouldn't accommodate a visit for you - even if there were no reason - just because you want to, is reason enough.  Hugs! It's so hard to be in limbo!

I ended up getting a follow-up call today to give me my AFP results (which were normal- so that's good!) and she asked if I was still having symptoms.  I told her that I'm not having the round ligament pain, but I'm still having the intermittent cramping/ achey feeling, so they scheduled an appt for 430 today for a check.  She thinks that it is possible that I have BV (again) or it could just be uterine stretching, but either way, I get to be seen, so that will bring me relief.  Cross your fingers that everything is ok.

Will be thinking of you when you're at your appointment! Sending love and light and crossing fingers, toes, eyes, legs....

I second the recommendation for chiropractic and massage.  I go to a chiropractor who specializes in the Webster Technique which is especially for pregnant women.  The doc always checks on my round ligaments and pelvis.  You're doing yoga, and that's good too.  I felt some pain over the weekend when we were running around a lot and buying furniture at IKEA.  Resting helped.  I hope you are feeling better and reassured soon.

Ok, so I had my appt.  My ob was very reassuring.  Everything was ok.  Cervix looked ok, no blood.  Lots of discharge but negative for bv.  I did have a bit of a scare though.  She had a difficult time locating the heartbeat with the doppler.  It seemed like she searched for 10 minutes, long enough for her to say "we better do a quick ultrasound" and just as she was about to lift the doppler off, she thought she heard something.  So with a little more probing, she finally found the heartbeat, he/she was up pretty high, close to my navel (she was searching much lower).  HR was around 140 or so, but it wasn't as loud as it was the last two times she checked.  The last two visits she found the heartbeat right away and it was loud and strong.  She said that sometimes it is harder to hear depending upon where baby might be 'hiding'.  So, I felt immense relief, because when I heard her say 'we better do an ultrasound', my heart about dropped to my feet.  She never seemed worried at all, she was very calm and reassuring.  She thinks that I'm just having round ligament pain and uterine stretching.  She also said that if I continue to have cramping (without relief from Tylenol), that she will do a culture to make sure it isn't some kind of bacteria, etc.  So, I guess that I feel like I have some peace of mind now and just know that I'm probably going to have some sharp/ random/ odd pains that come and go, and not to worry.

Thanks for the tip!  I do have chiropractic and message benefits through my health insurance so I'm going to make some appts.  Thanks mamas!

I'm so happy to hear you and the babe are a-ok. I think you were in all our thoughts and prayers as you went through that scare.

Now take it slow and easy mama, you deserve a mental rest after that roller-coaster ride! thumb.gif

Thank you! My 20 week gender us is on Monday so I'll get to see baby again. I'm still nervous because I'm still having the pain/ cramping, and very little, if any fetal movement. I'm sort of disappointed that I'm not "enjoying" my pregnancy, and instead I'm a bundle of nerves. I never thought that would happen because I'm normally very laid back.

So glad to hear this info, mama!!!  Can't wait to hear what you have hiding in there too :)

Just wanted to let you know, I've had uterine pain/cramping for a couple of weeks now. About a week ago I had really intense pain in my right side (it was totally round ligament pain), and I laid in bed almost all day because it hurt way too much to move. It was better by the next day, but not completely gone, and the day after that was better, but still a dull, lingering pain. And it's been like that since. Achy, dull pain all over my abdomen, sort of like menstrual cramps, but obviously pregnancy related. I remember it being the same way with my first pregnancy, so I'm not worried about it. It's just uncomfortable! ::P
