Midwife/HB in SoCal under $6000?

Hello All!

I am pregnant with my second and recently moved to Southern California.

I am having a difficult time finding birth centers, midwives, and home birth options anywhere under $6000. In my home state they are $2-3000 and sometimes up to $4000.

Any recommendations, suggestions?

Thank you!

Also, if you are in an LA county beach city, I would love to connect as I don't know hardly and like minded folks down here yet!

I'm in Orange County and the rate seems to be $5000-$8000. Are you insured? You will have to pay up front out of pocket but should get reinbursed some of that fee! Generally it is cheaper to birth at home than at the birth center. At least at the one I have worked for :)

I will get the contact info for you for a very good doula I know (San Diego, I don't know how far Sought you are though), if you'd like. I'm not sure what her rates are, she just moved down her a little bit ago, but she delivered my step moms kids and has helped me through a complicated pregnancy and is ABSOLUTELY amazing. Just shoot me a private message if you'd like her info, okay? Not sure she'd want her phone number floating around in cyberspace...

Hi! My midwife was wonderful and I'm pretty positive she was less than that but I can't remember because my insurance covered 80%. Anyway, her name is Mary Lou Obrien. Here is her email marlou@beachcitiesservices.com
Good luck smile.gifsmile.gif

The Sanctuary Birth Center in Mar Vista (west Los Angeles area) has an affiliated non-profit and works on a sliding scale for those who have less resources available. We are probably going to have a home birth with them.

Another for Home Birth Services.  I've had two with them, I think the first was $4400 and this last one in August was $4500.

I dont know where in LA county you are. You where not that specific but every midwife and birth center in Los angeles near the beach in torrance, hermosa beach, redondo beach, orange county etc is going to be over $5000. I live in Victorville, Ca in the Desert in the county of san bernardino and my midwife charges $5000 or $4500 if your local with discounts.
