Water leaking????? Advice

Hey ladies-

I am about 37+3 to 38 weeks and today while I was taking photos with my dds, I had a small gush of fluid... maybe pee?  thing is that it was located really far back in my undies and enough to make a big circle in the undies and pants.  It felt WAY different that leaking pee.  Not a whole lot since then (has been about 3 hours).  No noticeable contractions or anything to speak of and no more gushes, perhaps little trickles, but it could be pee too.

So, if the bag of water is still intact and resealed, is there chance for infection if DH and I DTD?  That is something that I swear by for myself and getting labor going.

I really do not think it was pee as it was just on the back part of my pants and undies and not at front AT ALL.

What do you all think?

Edited to add:

Water broke before labor with both girls, labor started 3-4 hours later with DD2 and 10 hours later with DD1.  Both were born right around 40 weeks (1 day on either side).  Also, they were both just trickles each time, no GUSH where the complete sack broke.

Are you still leaking after lying down for a while? Even if the leak is small, that might make the water pool and give you a better idea of what's going on.

Honestly, I have no idea about DTD. I mean, if you stop leaking and go several days without leaking then I would guess you're OK and that it resealed? So hard to know. When do you see your midwife?

Annnnnd....that's exciting. smile.gif Keep us updated!

I took a nap and have not had any leaks or gushes or anything since.  I would think it is just pee, except that it felt so distinctly like that period feeling when you start your period and know you have to run to the bathroom, and the location of the fluid on my pants and undies.... right toward the back, without anything in the front where pee usually shows up.

I don't know.  I guess we will see.  No contractions, no leaking, no nothing.  Quite disappointing now.

I think i'd just wait a day or so and see if anything else happens, if it doesn't - then i'd assume it resealed or was an outer sac or something.. i too have started labor twice with my water leaking and not a big gush - though i did have a bigger gush within 24 horus both times. the first time i think i was leaking just tiny trickles every few hours (and tested neg for amniotic fluid, though i KNOW that is what it was)  from about 3am-9pm before i had a bigger gush

maybe this could still be it ?  sorry i know this is frustrating .. :/

I wouldn't risk sex just in case. I know it's semen that thins the cervix but maybe try just having an orgasm and see if that helps things along? Or nipple stimulation?
With my first My water broke and really only had one or two trickles and then nothing else. Confirmed it was fluid and not pee with a pH strip. Contrax started 8 hours later.
With my second I had multiple trickles (mainly when going from sitting to standing) for like 20 hours before labor started.
Hang in there, mama! Exciting!!

i think i'd probably risk it if i was really really ready.  but since you don't know how long it will be or if your will get a gush (i burst my water right before full dilation at each birth, and it definitely would flush anything out!) it seems a little risky...  but give it a day or two, and if nothing happens, then go for it.

i had full on false labor last night.  6-8 BH an hour, deep pelvic discomfort, back pain, it never got too rhythmic or too serious.  but it was certainly a nice 'hey- you're gonna have a baby in a week or two!' alert for me!  here's for NOT going late w/ this one!  i usually have 2 weeks of false labor.  but one it was 4 full weeks.....

Welll, no baby this morning.  No contractions last night and no more leaking.  I am wondering if it was just pee at this point.  so weird though.

Hopefully someone will have a baby soon!  Can't wait much longer to see some cute baby pictures from this group!

That is weird! Hopefully you'll get the real gush soon! Did you happen to take a bath at all yesterday? Sometimes when I bathe I think water gets, uh, stuck in there and then I gush a little afterward.

Jean- no bath yesterday maybe the day before..... but it would have been almost 48 hours later.

I am just waiting and feeling irritated and impatient.

I'm sorry :(. My younger dude was born at 38 weeks so I'm feeling like it MUST happen soon, too, but it probably won't and I'll be miserable at 42 weeks.
