Does anyone know the best way to organize a bead exchange for our due date club? 
I so want to do one, but have not done one here, or seen how it was done

When we organized it with  my second daughter, our MDC used yahoo groups.  I would imagine we could do that or maybe even a facebook group?  I'd love to join one, but not until at least the second trimester.

I've seen discussions of bead exchanges but I am not exactly sure what it is or why it's done.

Bead exchanges are so you can make a birthing necklace with the energy and support from each mama.

My ddc here on mothering did one the last time I was pregnant. It worked out really nice. People signed up on a thread here in the ddc then one person took on the bulk of the work. Say 15 people signed up, and you were one of them you would go shopping/make 15 identical beads and then mail them with a few dollars for return shipping to the organizers house. They make the necklaces/bracelets and then mail one to each person who contributed.
It was a fun way to connect with everyone here

oooo okay- so later on

I just was thinking beads, and each mama could have her local support add to her bead collect and help her string her own. 

I will pester again in a few months
