Nesting???

Anyone else nesting already? dizzy.gif

I think mine kicked into full gear yesterday!  I started by washing, putting away, and organizing all of Elisa-Joan's things.  And then I had this overwhelming urge that all the walls in my house needed to be cleaned.  Thankfully DS2 who is 7yo loves to help scrub the walls so I at least had some help:)  I keep having this urge to take everything apart and pull everything out of all the rooms and deep clean all of them one at a time...if only I had as much energy as my imagination does!

That's great.  My nesting hasn't kicked into full gear yet, but last weekend DP and I did a good number on the kitchen: moved shelving units around, etc... And then his energy spilled over to the main room of the house, so that was nice: cleaned up the DVD / TV components shelf (moved the old, moved a different one in its place.)

Edit because I have more to add:

Apparently DP's nesting has kicked in.  After hanging out here for an hour, I finally got up to check out what was going on in the kitchen - he has decided to re-organize the spice cupboard.  And cleaned the fridge.  And REALLY wants to move the fridge across the kitchen to see if we'd like it.  As I've stated before, he's not the "organizer" nor the "cleaner" of this relationship, so this is crazy!!  I don't know where my DP went, but I'll keep this new guy!

I am totally in nesting mode today! Boiled and soaked and scrubbed all the cloth diapers we own. Helped DH to build a wall shelf for the new baby's clothes. Prepared all my witch hazel pads and popped them into the freezer. I went up into the attic and found all the baby stuff and clothes I will need and I am going to wash them tomorrow. Hurray!! I am so excited to be getting things done. It is a relief. But my stamina for cleaning is very very low. Actually my stamina for being out of my recliner is close to nil. Yesterday, my family went on a winter hike and I was totally burnt out and hobbling at a snail's pace 20 min into it! Shocking to see my energy drop so significantly already. I am hoping it is just a phase and that I can get back my usual energy.

I managed to get a big breakfast made, the groceries done, and my daughter's room cleaned and reorganized, today. One room down, seven to go! If I do one a weekend, I'll be done by the time the little one arrives. :P

Of course, there is now a number of boxes sitting in the hallway outside of my daughter's room, because it's baby stuff I need to go through and deal with before Bun gets here.

Hmmm.... Maybe. Today I:

Did 5 loads of laundry

Baked mocha chocolate chip cookies

Baked banana bread

Shopped for groceries

Cleaned the kitchen twice

Things are sort of stalled out in terms of getting the baby's room ready since there is a piano in there we are trying to get rid off. The kicker is that we think the piano might be worth something so we don't want to give it away; however, we're getting kind of desperate to get it out of the house. Anyone want a 1926 Kimball? Sheepish.gif

I'm definitely starting to feel it. I've been doing a lot of organizing the past few days, which is not like me at all. Unfortunately, I just found that it's extremely unlikely we'll be able to renew our lease, which means we'll be moving (AGAIN) in July. So now I have mixed feelings about putting a lot of effort into getting things the way I want them. We have a serious lack of storage space, so I was going to put up a bunch of wall mounted shelves, but if I'm just going to be taking things down and spackling in 6 months it hardly seems worth it. :/

Count me in! I went on a cleaning jag Saturday, sweeping and vaccuming the entire house, which included a ton of moving furniture to clean underneath, picking up and putting away odds and ends etc. All of that lifting and bending up and down totally wore me out. I've decided that once I'm beginning to feel like labor might be coming on, I will repeat this cleaning chore to really kick things into gear! Then yesterday DH and I finally finished putting together a book of baby photos from DD's first 3 months. Yep, and she's 2.5 years old -  that didn't take long, huh? We also placed an order for photo prints from our wedding to frame - we got married in 2009 and this is the first time we've gotten around to this lol.gif And today my job is to finally choose and order curtains and blinds for our windows - we moved into our new place 6 months ago and only 2 rooms have window coverings. I'm in need of a little privacy!

Ooh, and I've got all of the baby diapers, blankets, and 0-3 months size clothes set aside now (as of Saturday), ready to be washed.

I caught myself in mid-cleaning the other day when I realized I was being a little obsessive about scrubbing around my toilet lol.gif. I realized the nesting instinct had taken over which made me smile. Since then I've been scrubbing different surfaces and corners, taking advantage of random bursts of energy (probably brought on by the nesting instinct). Makes me feel like a mother bird! smile.gif

I am so glad that I am not the only one!  blowkiss.gif

I have been told that I am crazy for nesting so early or that I must be getting ready to deliver soon.  I just really like to have everything ready and clean before baby gets here so that I can relax when she does.  I also had DS2 at 35wks and I had nothing ready.  So I tend to get a little paranoid around this time.  But I also see it as I will be ready and hopefully get to spend some extra time with my boys so they do not feel so deprived when lil miss gets here love.gif

So far I don't have a "cleaning" nesting urge, but definitly an "organisation" and, mostly, decluttering nesting urge!

For thos who think you're early, I don't think so.  When I was barely 30 weeks pregnant with DD, I rented a steam cleaner from the grocery story, brought it home by myself and cleaned our entire house with it (if you've never used one of those, they weigh a ton!!!)  Only nesting hormones would ever push me to do such a thing!!!wink1.gif

LightForest - please don't feel bad about getting to the baby photos just now.  I just a week or so ago started putting DD's photos into a physical album.  She's 7.  bag.gif  But at least it's getting done!!!  (Which reminds me, I have photos to pick up from the photofinishing place...)

Bena, with DS3 I shampooed all the carpets in my house also right about this time!  I've been getting that same funny feeling again lately too!

Today I ended up moving everything around in my bedroom (well with DH help) and pulling everything out of the closet so that I could vacuum under everything and rearrange.  I feel so much better now that it is all clean though!

Now I just have to wait and see what will be on my list of things to do next!

The nesting instinct hasn't taken over for me yet, but I am noticing dirt in places and it's getting on my nerves.  I think that's the first step.  Maybe if I *force* myself to clean today, I won't be able to stop!  That would be lovely! :D  I think I am gonna give it a try and see how it turns out!  I'll let you know! :D

I've had some nesting urges at this point, though I wish they all would wrap themselves up in an orderly fashion. Some things have made a big difference immediately, like scrubbing the bathroom down, and doing a solid job of cleaning our bedroom, and purging some of the books I don't need/want any more. And some things have just made things worse in the interim! I decided the living room shelves needed reorganization, and they look much better now, but there are also now stacks of books all over the floor that are waiting for a new bookcase (or two or three) to have a home in.

I did find this website/project this month, which has been great inspiration, and even though I haven't nearly managed to keep up with it, I've got a great list now of things that could be good to work through. smile.gif http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/the-january-cure-182076

Scruffy, that is awesome that your partner is getting into nesting mode! I wish mine would do that! At least he has been accommodating at doing the tasks I put aside for him. And to be fair, it's his hard-earned money that goes to paying for things like our awesome new fridge and the nice kitchen mat I finally just bought so I wouldn't be worried about slipping and killing myself while in the kitchen... orngtongue.gif

Oh, and I just finally in December sent little photo albums of our wedding pictures (from Oct 2011) to our various grandparents. My dad said I needed to make it happen before it was time to send out baby pictures. Heh. He was right, though, it was really nice to get it done!
