What will you buy/make/get for a second, third, etc. baby? - Page 2

This is my third baby. My second is only 18 months, so we have everything we need. All I need to get is more cloth diapers, a new carseat, and some gender neutral clothes. We're not finding out the baby's sex until birth. If baby is a boy, then we have clothes for the right seasons and won't need anything else, but if a girl we can later buy clothes for her

TheBabyGuy just posted reviews of new car seats coming out this year. Exciting to have more choices! But I'm a car seat geek. lol.gif

They are shipping the new Aton from diapers.com and I know that is on his list. I love Jamie.

I have never heard of TheBabyGuy or the Aton. What car seats do y'all recommend? I have a Britax Roundabout 55 for DS that I *love.* I started with a Graco Snugride, but it felt flimsy to me. I was thinking I'd start this baby in a Chicco Keyfit 30. I like the midori color best.

We'll likely look at borrowing a bucket just for those first couple months.  I know that some convertibles go from birth now and that's what we'll be buying most likely, but I'd still feel better if I had a backup just in case something didn't fit quite right at first.  Unless someone can convince me otherwise.  winky.gif

DS (almost 5) has been in his Radian since 6 months old or so, I think the date is probably far enough along that it would be silly to try to use it for the second one and then have to buy something else later.  DS is a bit tall for his age, we have to think about what to do next for him too. He's on the last slot already!

We have a Chicco Keyfit 30 left from DS which we will use again.  It was easy to fit in the car and get DS in and out.  He did tend to overheat in it, which made him a very unhappy passenger, but I don't know if it's just because he was a hot baby (which he was) and hot summer, or because the carseat made it worse.  I tend to run cold, so it is hard for me to set the a/c appropriately for him...I'd end up wearing 2 extra layers and then if I was a comfy temperature, he'd almost be cool enough.

@CraftyMcGluestick. We are probably going to do a KeyFit 30 since it will be the easiest to get in and out of a mini van back seat and go three in a row with our Radian and Coccoro.

Look at some of the other Britexes. They have a higher height limit and will fit longer.

With my first we did bucket to 4 months, then Radian. My second the Coccoro from the start, which fit perfectly.

Things I'm getting for #2:

- New aden & anais blankets.  There's no way DS is going to share his.

- A new breast pump - that way I can leave it at work.  I'm probably going to go with the Medela PISA again

- Refresh my CD.  I'm bad and put the covers in the dryer whistling.gif, so I need new elastic in my BGs.  Which I'm not sure how I'm going to do it, since I don't have a sewing machine, nor do I know anyone who does.

- Toddler KP.  Technically this is for #1, but it's so we can wear #1 & #2.

- Convertible car seats, eventually

Things I'd loooooooooove to get, but probably not in the new baby budget:

- A Wrapsody Bali Breeze Wrap, since BWing will be hot in August.  But I already have a moby, a ring sling, a mei tai, a storch Inka, the Infantino balance and well, the brand new toddler KP.  I tell hubby that technically a gauze wrap is different than a moby and my woven, but he's not falling for it.

- A new high chair, one that's easily wiped down.

I have a keyfit from DD that's in great shape and we will reuse in the early months. We will get DD a radian and pass her truefit on to baby. DD is close to the RF limit on the truefit so we'll go with the radian to keep her rf longer.
I'm also ordering a maya wrap RS to wear baby while I chase DD.
I need a few NB size diaper covers but I have a bunch of flats to get me through until the OS pockets fit.
Luckily we have all baby paraphernalia still and I second the recommendation of a swing. I lent mine to a friend and she hated having to return it once baby outgrew it. Some babes hate it but it makes life easier for many mamas. I started out pumping for DD because she wouldn't latch and the swing was a lifesaver.

I'm picking up a few summer boy things at consignment....  I'm thinking to get some organic cotton crib mattress pads to replace the waterproof plasticky things I've been using.  Oh and some more mama cloth for me for PP.  I think that's it.  #4 doesn't need much, especially when I already have boy and girl stuff!

NotYourBudyGuy - I actually have one of those wraps that I want to sell after this baby is born.  I'm only keeping it in case I want to use it as a Rebozo for sifting prior to/during labor.  After three other kids, I am admitting I'm not a wrapper and I only have the love for Mei Tais. ;)  So, yeah, if you're interested, message me. ;)
