4th time (or more) mommy's

What do you expect for your labor this time?  I've heard conflicting stories...will it be super fast...super long...predictions?  My labors have been: 3 hours, 8 hours, 8 hours.  I'm hoping this one is in the 3hour or less category!  The biggest thing I've heard is that prodominal labor gets worse each time; I really do not want days of pre-labor!

I'm 36+2 and started having prodromal labor during the night and it's continued all day today. Fun, lol! My babies were born at 39+3, 40+1, 39 and 38 weeks. With my first three their labors were 12 hours and my last baby was 8. I'm hoping for less than 8 this time.

My first labor was managed in the hospital, epidural, pitocin, so I'm not sure exactly how long it was, I don't even remember, (probably a standard 14 hours or so). But I only pushed for a few minutes.

Second labor was about 7 hours, but mostly mild and I ended up birthing in the car on the way to the birth center.

Third labor, I slept through most of it.  I went to sleep around 10 pm with mild contractions, woke up around 2 am and she was born around 4:30 am. with two pushes she was out. it was too fast and I tore

Fourth labor, I went into labor around noon, was out shopping at the farmers market, went home around 4pm. Gave birth around 9:30pm.  Funny story with this one, I was feeding all my kids and my midwifes kids and her foster kids dinner. there were 9 kids!!! after they went to bed things picked up.  My midwife was in the bathtub during all this.  LOL

This is my 5th.  I already said in another post that on Sat. I had 14 hours of intense 2-4 minute apart contractions.  I somehow willed them to stop so I could get some sleep, but now nothing.  I've been having months of braxton hicks.  I am now about 4.5 cm and pretty effaced. not sure how much.  But I know several moms here who are on their 4,5,6th baby and they all pretty much say that it doesn't get easier after that many.  I've heard the body takes a while to get back into it.  I'm not sure if it's true but it seems to be lining up for me.  I'm actually hoping a for a slower pushing and delivery stage.  I wouldn't mind if it lasted for 20-30 minutes, rather then one or two pushes.  I almost need to be upside down my body pushes out babies fast, too fast.

my first labor was 33 hours in a hopsital and full of interventions stuck in a bed.

#2 was 38minutes . I was induced for IUGR  they were shocked it went the way it did.

#3 was about 2.5 hours or so.

#4 was 2 hrs start to finish and by far my very best easiest labor

#5 started with my water breaking at 4:30 in the morning but no real labor until around 6:30. She was born at 10:25 so almost 4hours of labor

I'm also 36+2 today, so funny because since I've posted this I've been getting braxton hicks every few min's.  Mild and painless thankfully.

my 1st was 39 wks, 19 hours from water breaking to baby, hospital birth, pit, epidural, horrible.

my 2nd was induced at 41 wks, 12 hours start to finish.

#3 40+2, was a homebirth, water broke at 3:30am, mild ctx 5-7 mins apart for 5ish hours, then super intense ctx 1-2mins apart for a few hours, 10 hours total, including 2 hours of pushing.. bad tearing from baby getting stuck and the midwife having to pull her out..

I am currently 37+1 with baby #4 .. i am hoping for a short-ish labor,  i liked how the intense part of my last labor was only 5 hours, though i would prefer this time to spend less time pushing and i'd rather not tear so badly, i may be doomed though since a fast pushing phase seems to cause tearing and in my case i seem to tear even with a slow pushing phase..

I forgot to mention that I was cut with my first and tore with each one after.

ha- when i think of this i think i'm crazy to still be going!

#1- 44 hours ACTIVE labor, 1 hr 40 min of pushing.  OP baby boy.  NST, leading to induction, leading to pitocin, leading to epidural, labial tearing, no perineal tearing.

#2- 12 hours labor in birth center (a few at home, and went home in the middle and returned to birth center in middle of night), 5 min of pushing.  7lbs 9oz baby girl.

#3- 12 hour homebirth, 15 min pushing, 8lb 8oz baby girl.

#4- 5 hour homebirth, 20 min pushing, 7lb baby girl.

no perineal tearing- even in the 5 push 5 minute wonder baby.

so expecting between 5-12 hours of labor.  i'm not speedy at the laboring, i'm not speedy at the pushing, recovery is usually pretty easy and we've all ended up really happy w/ it all!

#1 boy was born at 37 weeks and labor was about 11.5 hours
#2, boy was born at 37.5 weeks and labor was all together 5.5hrs but only 1.5hrs of painful contractions
#3, girl was born at 39 week, was induced that time. Labor was also about 5.5hrs but again only about 1.5-2hrs of painful contractions

This little one is a boy and I've been having contractions on and off but they aren't painful yet. We shall see if he comes before his due date or changes thing up a bit and comes after. I'm hoping it's a short labor again but hopefully not too short to not make it to the hospital.

I wonder this all the time, if there's some kind of pattern.
1 was 12 hours from water breaking to delivery, three hours pushing. 1 week prodromal labor. 37w, 4d
2 was 1 hour from water breaking to delivery, my body pushed him out. 3 weeks prodromal labor, 38w, 1d
3 water never broke, he was born 9 minutes after arrival at hospital in the caul, after almost 4 weeks of prodromal labor. 38w, 6d

It's so hard for me to tell when it changes from painful prodromal to actual labor. I am almost 34 weeks and already having it this time.

Who knows! I am hoping for earlier rather than later though, this hurts!
