Religious Exemption for Vax in Brooklyn Public Elementary Schools

Hello. We are moving to Brooklyn and our older child will be entering kindergarten this fall 2013. Where we are upstate, we have been successful in turning in a notarized NYS religious exemption form to the private school we attend. I am about to go register them at their zoned school and then apply to several kindergartens in districts 13 and 15. Do I just show up at the zoned school's office with the exemption form, or do I somehow need to be more prepared (ie calling a lawyer, Gary Krasner, etc)? Does anyone have any recent experience with this? Thanks!

I to am moving from Florida to Lancaster N.Y. My daughter is 9 and in 3rd grade with a Florida Religios Ex. Does N.Y. accept a Florida Reg.Ex? Where and how do I get a N.Y. one. I am not really religious,Christian yes but not a fanatical. Anyways,I heard N .Y. is impossible and you have to prove the religion.Also can N.Y. use Flrida Shots to see if any shots have been given ever which I hear disqualifys u from getting a relious Ex.THANKS

You must present a letter staing your sincere beliefs. Religios exemptions should be unique to each person/family. There is a lot of supporting information available to assist you in writing it. You must be prepared to defend your letter, if questioned. You do not give the letter when you apply, but once you are accepted and are registering. Do a search and you will find links within the Mothering board. I also used resources from Gary KraSner.
