Second time moms: What does your cervix feel like?

My midwife gave me boric acid capsules to help ward off the vaginal yeast infections I am prone to and when inserting one tonight I felt my cervix for the first time since I was probably 6 weeks and it is "squishy" and my os is open about a fingertip wide. I was expecting it to be very firm but the os being open a bit doesn't worry me. Can anyone help me out here? I just sent an email to my midwife but don't expect a reply right away and really, I am just curious with a tiny bit of concerned mixed in.

When you say "soft" what do you mean.  If you were to compare it to the tip of your nose or the fatty part of your hand between you thumb and finger?  I mean if it's a tad bit soft, I think that's totally fine, if it's mush then that's probably not great.  Do you check it often (pre pregnancy?) to have a comparison of what normal is for you??  I personally wouldn't worry about that unless the inner OS was opening too and it was mush.  That's just me though and I've NEVER gone into labor on my own, even with my 1st 4 being vaginal births I was induced at 38w for pre E, 37 weeks for pre E, 42 weeks because it's the medical community, and 38 weeks because baby girl was no longer alive, and 38 weeks because that's when we lost baby girl (turned C-section for decels and no progression after 24 hours).

It just felt squishy, not soft like fertile soft, and only half of it felt squishy. It was very strange. I guess I just expected it to feel really hard like a non fertile cervix feels. I do FAM so I definitely know what it feels like non pregnant I have just never felt my cervix during pregnancy before.

Last I checked (few weeks ago) it was high and soft. From what I read, that's what it's supposed to do by after 12 weeks or so. Mine is also open ever so slightly, but I think that's a permanent thing because of having babies. I've been feeling my baby kicking around in there, so I'm pretty confident that I am fine.

Firm, open and low are things to look for with miscarriage from what I read.
