Anyone else taking extra Vitamin D?

I take Garden of Life prenatals (which I need during this first trimester for sure bc of my food aversions and nausea) and it has 1400 IU's but I have been reading more about deficiency's and how critical Vitamin D is.  I haven't met with my midwife yet but I am also taking an additional supplement of 2000.  I figure I get some from my diet too equaling about 4000 IU's a day.....

Me! I take an extra vitamin D pill (sorry, not sure of the iU's) per day because I don't always get much sunshine on my skin. When I was teaching, I was always outside for recess duty, but now as a SAHM I usually hang out in the shade.

I live in the PacNW so I rarely get to see the sun in the winter (although it has been shining a lot this winter but I have been laying on the couch ;)

I take 2000 a day in addition to whatever is in my prenatal.

Carmen-- I see you have a 3 year old daughter too.  Have you told her you are pregnant yet?  We go to see our midwives on 2/4 to (hopefully) the heartbeat.  I think I will prep her that day and get her some books but I think she will be super excited and will ask a million questions.  are you pregnancies different?

I take an extra 2000 IU every day because I was tested and found to be low last year.  I take Rx Vitamins Liqui-D3, it was very effective in raising my levels, and has nothing that I am allergic to.  It is derived from lanolin and suspended in olive oil, I just put a drop on my food once a day.

I take an extra 1000-2000 IU depending on if I have a cold.

Oregon 2010. We told my almost four year old a month ago and he loves watching the inutero development videos on baby center. lots of questions about umbilical cords.

Not yet! Again, because of our losses, we want to wait until we are into the 2nd trimester for sure. We'll likely tell her in the next week or so though. I know she will be thrilled! We bought a wooden puzzle that is vertical as well as horizontal (does that makes sense?) that as you take the pieces out you can see the baby at different stages...it's awesome and I can't wait to give it to her!

Yes, the pregnancies are different - not completely but small, subtle things. I had heartburn from very early with my DD and this time pretty much none (and I hope it stays that way!). My nausea was all day long from about 6.5w to 13w with DD but this time it started earlier but is really not all day - mostly in the evenings. My breasts have stayed sore this time too - with DD the really intense tenderness went away at about 9.5w. How about you?

Ooooh, tell me where I can find that puzzle! Love that idea.  We are waiting to we hear the heartbeat  to tell her (even though we saw it last week at 8.5 weeks), I want to be sure. How far along are you now? I am in my 9th week.

My pregnancies are different, not completely either but with her I was vomiting all day and night from 6.5 weeks-until 13 weeks and this time I have just had a lot of nausea and mostly in the evenings too. I've been very nauseous starting around 4 pm on. I am happy to not be puking as much but the nausea/food aversions are strong.  My breasts are more sore this time and I am more tired.  I was barely tired with her.   We didn't find out what we were having with her, she was a lovely surprise at birth.  I was sure she was a boy.  This time, I just have this gut feeling it is a boy.   I had a very vivid boy dream.  I will just be interested if the different symptoms mean anything.  Its fun to wonder who this person is while we wait and feel sick. This is our last baby so I hope to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy but I had a challenging one with her so we will see....

I take 2000IU extra plus whatever is in my prenatal. I use Rainbow light for those.

Right now, my midwife is recommending 4-6K daily.  My numbers came back a little bit low (in Washington).  I had already been supplimenting, but had cut back to 2K while pregnant and they said they generally recommend in the 4K range. Plus whatever is in my prenatal.

We also do liquid D3.

I was taking an extra 10000 iu before when in England. Now that we are in Arizona I take 5000 iu tab plus what is in my calcium tabs and my prenatal.

I know what you mean about trying to enjoy it. This is my last pregnancy too and I want to savour every moment if I can!

The bought the puzzle at a local toy store but a quick google search found that it's available on Amazon - it's a german company but I think it's made in China. Here is the link http://www.amazon.com/Mother-Layer-Puzzle-27-Pieces/dp/B001CL6U1O. It's hard to tell in the photos but at each level there is a puzzle and there are 5 levels as well. It's very cool!

I am now that I have the plague, but I am kicking myself for not taking it from fall on. We're in the Mitten, there's no sun here!

To be honest, I stopped my prenatal a couple weeks ago. I cant bring myself to swallow something that big right now greensad.gif

I have a pretty good diet most of the time, and I've been trying to eat folate containing things. It's the best I can do right now :/
