Maternity Clothes - Page 4
chispita, for yoga shirts, i have been layering two tanks. the bottom one, i wear tucked into my yoga pants, the top one i wear untucked. it looks a little weird and it probably won't last me another week or two, but it's been OK so far... i don't know what i'll do after this. the ladies in my yoga class seem to all wear maternity t-shirts.
I need some help from you experienced mamas out there! Please tell me that I won't need to buy different sizes of clothing for each cycle during pregnancy...
I'm planning to get some maternity clothes but was thinking that it's too early for that, am I wrong? I'm in my 16th week and have just started wearing yoga pants more frequently and have given up on wearing my jeans unbuttoned which I was able to do until last week.
Now, I'm finding that my bras are all uncomfortable, the pre-pregnancy bras as well as the 3 new larger maternity bras I purchased when my boobs first started swelling up, ugh! I thought I got big enough sizes and the saleslady said I should be good with these for my whole pregnancy, not!
And, my underwear seems a little tighter, even the elastic on my socks leaves lines on me when I take them off. I didn't realize that I was gradually increasing in size EVERYWHERE!!! It's weird because as of today I've only gained about 4-5 pounds... I am hesitant to buy new things until I REALLY need them, but what I am dealing with right now is just so frustrating. It takes forever to get dressed these days, nothing is comfortable except my pajamas! I'm sure summer will be better when I can wear skirts, dresses, sandals, etc... But, while it's still cold, I need to figure something out... Will I really need to buy new underwear, new socks and more new bras? It's clear that I'm clueless, please help... Any advice, tips, etc. would be greatly appreciated:)
Suzie, I have been wondering the same thing. I've only gained a couple of pounds, but my belly is growing regardless. I got a belly band to extend how long I can wear my pants, but I don't know how long this will last me. I am looking forward to summer! I bought bigger underpants, but they're starting to get tight too.
Same here. Gained 2lbs so far, but belly started growing finally last week. 15wks today!
Bellyband is starting to feel useless, feeling uncomfortable in my normal pants now completely unzipped. I started wearing maternity pants, which are soo comfortable! But they're still a bit big on me, so I'm in an awkward in-between phase.
I also suggest buying soft cup bras that are generous in sizing so may still fit if you go up a cup size. This time my breasts have increased in size much earlier and I'd be surprised if I don't have to buy some more in the last trimester. My friend swears by just using band expander thingies but for someone who went from an A/B who is now a C/D my bras clearly would not fit even if the band was bigger! I did have to buy bigger underwear last time and am going to have to do the same soon. I am also in the in between stage for maternity clothes now. I have mostly summer maternity stuff since my son was due in August last time around but it's finally getting warm here so I pulled it out this weekend. Some of it is still too big and looks baggy and loose. Some stuff fits okay. It just depends what size, brand, etc. I am going to a consignment sale this weekend that has maternity clothes so I hope to find some dresses that are a bit easier to wear as my belly grows as opposed to differing maternity waist bands. It is hard to find stuff that is comfortable and makes you feel good. Maternity clothes are mostly frumpy and if they're not, they're way out of my price range! I am also thinking a trip to an H&M that carries maternity is in order, though it's over an hour away : (
I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one in this weird in between phase. Guess misery really does love company!! Sorry to hear that you guys are frustrated as well. Thanks for sharing what you ladies are going through, it's so nice to know I'm not alone!!!
So, I scored on 2 pairs of maternity jeans at a resale shop and one pair was on sale for $5 (nice brands too)! After I wash them (doing laundry this weekend), I know I will be so happy wearing them!! They probably won't last for the entire pregnancy as they are perfect for me right now but they do have some room to grow. I can't express how wonderful it was to put them on and how comfy they felt!! And, they are not frumpy or dorky either, so excited!!!
Now I need to get some bras and panties. I went from a C cup to a D and I really feel like I need some support, they are just so darn heavy! At home, I've been living in those spaghetti strap type of tank tops that have the soft built-in sports bra type of thing sewn in and I love them but I like to have something more supportive, especially when I'm out in the world.
Thanks letniaLynne and vegrunr for the tips. I can see how the underwire could get bothersome later on but I really want support, hopefully there are other options out there that I haven't come across yet that will allow for room to grow while still being supportive.
i hate this in between stage...my pants are too tight but maternity pants are still way too baggy :(
(& bloody hell i had my 16 week check up today & i have gained 11 pounds so far, yet still can't fit in maternity jeans).
i have been living in leggings and loose tops (+tank top with sports bra thingy built in).
i actually bought bigger underwear today (it seems like most of the 11 pounds has concentrated on my arse...lol...)
i went to old navy this past weekend & was totally disappointed. the maternity section was sparse & the clothes were blah.
i don't normally shop there but i thought they would have a much better selection.
H&M had cute jeans, black t's & tanks.
it turns out i need a fancy dress for may 3rd.
i have no idea where to look.
i think i will hit up thrift stores this weekend.
for the other mama's going to weddings where did you find your digs?
Amanda, I'm gaining weight at a similar rate to you, and also find my ass is bearing the brunt of that weight gain!!
amanda, i have to wear a "nice" dress for various fundraising events for work, and i found something inexpensive and pretty on target's website. i've found that both target and old navy have much better maternity selections online than in stores... which is really annoying for me because i really like to try stuff on first. i am thinking of hitting up the thrift stores this weekend too.
i'm all about the leggings and long shirt/short dress look right now. although i'm outgrowing my regular leggings (which i just bought in the biggest possible size and pulled over my belly) and the maternity leggings i bought from old navy are terrible. I don't want to spend $50 on leggings from a special maternity store but i am running out of options.... has anyone found decent cheap leggings that work with a baby bump?
