Movement That Others Can Feel: What's Your Feedback?

I'm 20 weeks today and I've been feeling the goldfishy like movements since probably week 15 or 16 (which my Dr. seemed like I was crazy for saying so).  They've been getting stronger and I find S/He is more active after eating certain things or certain times of day.  While I can feel it, DH can not.  I'm wondering when others who've had previous pregnancies were able to share the feelings of movement with their partners (or any other person you would allow in your personal bubble).  I'm anxious and wondering when I can start looking for those stronger movements.

Would love to hear your stories!

I have felt all the others much earlier and much stronger than this little one.  My Dr even felt L move at 14 weeks (which she thought was the craziest thing in the world).  This time I only feel the "fishy" like things your referencing and DH can definitely NOT feel anything yet (I'm only 17w1d though)  It'll happen soon, mama!!

I'm 21w5d and have had others feel for a couple of weeks now. DS said he felt something when I didn't but he waited it out and felt for sure. DP said he thought movement was me. I said nope my belly doesn't turn like that unless I'm gonna puke. In the bath tub I even was still enough to see water moving from little Wow. I just watched and watched.

Big brother falls asleep feeling for Wow wiggles. Your dears will feel movement soon.

My husband has been able to feel movement for two weeks now. And they are strong! (I'm at 20 weeks this week)

I could easily feel external 50- 100 kicks a day if I tried. It's a really active baby! With really long legs so says the ultrasound tech.

I was reading online that most can expect to feel movement by 22-24 weeks. I asked my midwife why we could feel it so much earlier and she told me it all has to do with the position of the placenta. If the placenta has attached at the front of the uterus, it will take longer to feel any movement externally because there is extra 'padding' between the baby and the outside world. If the placenta attaches at the back of the uterus you can feel it earlier.

also, I notice movements most often right after I pee (more space to move in there!) and when DH is around. He likes to rub my belly first thing in the morning and at night and after he rubs me for a moment or two and pauses, baby responds with a storm of kicks... which is cute but rather annoying when I'm just about to fall asleep :P My husband thinks it's hilarious.

Awww!  I love this story!  Thank you so much for sharing!  Also, thank you for the info on what you've read.  We have our 20 week ultrasound on Monday and I was going to ask then, but these stories and personal feedback is always so much more appealing then a Dr's medical answer.  Thanks again!

I'm 21 weeks and the kids have been putting their hands on me and feeling movements for a week or so.

Tenk - Thanks for your input.  That's interesting that your different pregnancies have yielded such different reactions.  Nattery mentioned (quoted below) something that may explain that about where the placenta attaches.  Love hearing from all of you!

My placenta is very anterior, and baby likes to snuggle right up against it (we've seen this in all three ultrasounds recently!) - so I just don't feel a lot. :( I'm 20+ weeks now.

I'm assuming it'll be at least another month, maybe two, before DH feels anything.

I will say that my son felt movement on me at 13 weeks - but that's when baby had a LOT of room, and did a LOT of jumping/moving around. I felt WAY more movement weeks 12-14 than I have since! Crazy, huh?

I love my ultrasounds for this very reason - gives me great answers as to the strange happenings.

The placenta location is a very important piece of the puzzle and has a lot to do with when you'll feel baby.  This time my placenta has attached at the top of my uterus (where my rupture happened in the past) so that's not why I'm not feeling all that much, but who knows what the reason is behind it.  I'm checking heart rate daily though :)

FarmerMomma, the bathtub water movement is just wild!

I have been able to feel good outward movement (19 weeks) but every time I think the bub is going to town well enough for my husband to feel the tyke quits moving!  Shy, I guess.

Spotty4 - I have the same issue.  I think S/He is moving around a bunch and that I can possibly feel something other than my own heartbeat when a press my hand to it, but then by the time I've waited for a few minutes to make sure, S/He's stopped....Maybe I'm squishing it's moveable space?

With all this placenta talk, I'll be interested to see where mine has latched on at our ultrasound on Monday.

I have been able to feel movement from 13 weeks. DH just started to feel movement from the outside this week. My placenta is on the back side which is different from my pregnancy with DD, when it was on the outside. I didn't feel much movement with her.

DH has been able to feel movement for weeks now, but it was always really random and sporadic. But recently when he gets into bed in the morning (he works night shift and gets home at 6AM) he'll slide his hand over my belly before falling asleep and the baby has consistently been giving him a few thumps. Baby is always inactive before DH puts his hand on the belly, and then inactive again after saying hi to dada, and it has happened for the past 5 days straight!

How cool that some of you are feeling moement and your DH's are feeling it too.  I wish DH could feel movement!  I'm being patient.... but waiting.  I'm barely feeling tiny flutters now.... but nothing consistent.  Hurry up, baby, start kicking!  (I have a posterior placenta so it should be any time now)....   *sigh*  upsidedown.gif

I think the placenta makes a huge difference, but so does the way baby is facing.  DH has been able to feel from the outside for a few weeks now, but I noticed that recently I feel less.  I think she turned around - her back used to be facing my back so her arms and feet were toward my belly, but now her back is toward my belly so I feel less even from the inside, and I'm much less likely to feel the kicks on the outside.  She actually just seems to have swung back this evening; I just saw my stomach move, lol! I'm almost at 23 weeks. sorry if this is choppy, lol!

my 6 year old nephew felt the baby move for the first time yesterday and it was so precious! he put his head on my belly and as soon as he did 'wham!' right in the cheek. he was so excited and I was happy he got to feel it. besides him, DH is the only other person and it's usually only when i'm laying flat and the baby is really going nuts. i am somewhere between 17-19 weeks (going to mw today to hopefully clear up dates) and have been feeling consistant movement for over a month now. this is my third pregnancy though.
