He came at 2:59am this morning after 7 hours of labor, all with short contractions rather close together that I thought would organize into normal later on. At 1am I realized things were moving quickly this time as these were strong and I checked myself and must have been like 6cm. My others took 38 and 28 hrs. I asked DH to get things together to go. The in-laws didn't have time to get here and watch our other kids so we took them in the car. Water broke about 2 and DH dragged me to the car soon after, snowy roads and 2 minute apart pushy contractions and 20 miles later, we got there 9 minutes and 4-5 earnest pushes before he arrived. DS1 scolded me for using bad words in the car. MW suggested I lay down, lift my legs and hold my breath and I rather abruptly told her no to all those, got on hands and knees and breathed half each push and held my breath the rest, in awe that he was crowning already. My 3 and 6 year old came running in when they heard him cry. 2 hours or so later, nursing baby, paperwork, nb exam, and shower were done, and we came home much to my other boys' relief. He slept in the car but nursed nonstop since we got here. 7lbs 13oz my smallest yet, 21.5" long. Covered in vernix so maybe I wasn't 41w2d like they put me at, but also long nails, he was born just the right time.
