any other hypnomamas?

I used hypnobabies for my second birth (a vbac) and LOVED it. I'm looking forward to using it again this pregnancy. Any one else?

Our local birthcenter here uses Blissborn. They used to teach Hypnobabies but then switched, not sure why. I've always been interested in learning hypnotherapy techniques to stay calm, focused and centered so I'll probably sign up for it unless I don't get a good vibe from them when I go to the orientation.

As a doula, I highly recommend Hypnobabies.  Plus, they have an at home study coarse, if you don't have classes in your area.

Yes, I did the home study course and also added the vbac specific mp3 tracks. It made it so much easier with a toddler at home. We use babysitters very rarely, so an actual class isn't doable smile.gif

I've been considering hypnobabies. It's kind of spendy (even the homestudy) but I just did standard birthing class with my first one and it was NOT helpful.

I got a used copy of hypnobirthing, but haven't started reading/listening. I don't know if it will be for me, but I have heard good things.

I did an in person hypnobirthing class with my first and didn't feel like it helped at all.

I did Hypnobabies audio tracks with my second and I felt it helped with early and active labor. For transition and pushing, I don't find hypnosis helpful. Having said all of that, I really appreciate what Hypnobabies offers, but it is only one of my coping techniques in laborious.

I used Hypnobabies with my first and plan to start listening to some of the tracks soon. It really helped me during my pregnancy, when I was overdue, and during early labor. I wasn't really able to listen during active labor but my husband used cues we had practiced that seemed to work. The class definitely helped to inform my husband about birth and the roles he could play during the birth.

I used hypnobirthing with my 3rd birth and while it was a little helpful, I didn't find it as great as I had hoped.  After my sister raved about her hypnobabies birth and talked alot about the course.   I decided to give it a go.  I did the hypnobabies homestudy course with baby #5 and had a nearly painless, amazing labor and delivery.  I can't say enough good things about it.  I'm planning to do it again this time:)

I used Hypnobabies with my first pregnancy and birth, and I ended up having a quick birth, so quick that it was unassisted.  I do agree with PPs that it is harder to listen to the tracks during transition and pushing, but overall I think it helped soooo much.  I will definitely be using it again!  I need to listen to the joyful pregnancy affirmations, as I found those really helpful, especially "All of my bodily functions remain normal for the stage of pregnancy that I am in now."  I repeat that one to myself when I'm freaking out about a pregnancy symptom.

Does anyone know of a good source for used materials for Hypnobabies?  There isn't much on eBay and considering all the other financial things associated with a birth I'm having a hard time justifying the expense of a new copy of the home study course. Especially since I'm going to use it once and then pass it on.

If you're still looking, there was one posted here:  http://makelaughlove.com/forum/showthread.php?23418-Everything-Destash!-Hypnobabies-Feliz-FRB-PUL-patterns-dance-costumes&highlight=hypnobabies

I'm a member of that forum - not sure if you have to be a member to see it.  They ocassionally pop up on diaperswappers, too.

Looks to be four on ebay right now, too.

I've started listening to my affirmations and plan to start the actual program next week!

I think we may end up doing the home course.  All the classes I have found locally are weekday evenings, and that is really hard for us to do; I feel like we would be much more successful doing it ourselves. That being said, I don't know if I'm capable of the discipline of keeping up with it.  Although, since we're going into summertime soon-"hopefully" I will have a more relaxed schedule where I can make time to focus on it.

My good friend is a hypnotherapist and made me a hypnotherapy tape for pregnancy, birth, and motherhood (how I feel about all three, etc.).  I really like it!  I think she'll probably make one specifically for birthing later in my pregnancy. :)
