What would you do?

I was shopping at target today and my 12 month old starts signing milk and getting really fussy. I make a bee line to the dressing room to nurse her there. I tell the attendant I am going in one of the stalls to nurse my daughter. She tells me she has to ask her boss if I can do that. Wtf? I tell her I have nothing on me and she still asks her supervisor. I go in the stall and start nursing, her supervisor radios back that, non, I can't do that. The attendant knocks on the door telling me I cant do that. I am so flabergasted I just ignore her. When I finish, or D D finished, I walk out and she's trying to explain that I can't do that in there. My mind is blown that not one but 2 people could be so ridiculous. I still feel insulted to be treated like I was doing something wrong. What would you do?

Was a reason given??

Not that a reason is any justification. I'm just curious. If one was given, I'm sure it's ridiculous.

The supervisor should know better. I would have given him/her an earfull. If you left without doing that, I'd still do it. Go back and hand him/her a copy of the law.

I'm sorry that happened to you. In the future, I wouldn't tell the dressing room person what you need the room for. Just take an item with you, tell them you have one thing and go in and feed the baby.

Phathui5 I like your approach.  I'm usually very non-confrontational, but this event really insulted me. Furthermore, I do remember reading awhile back that Target's corporate policy is that the dressing room is available for use for nursing mothers.  I do feel that I should contact the manager and make sure that policy is enforced in his/her store.  So I will probably write a letter/email about what happened, and then use the "I'm trying on one thing" approach in the future.

How silly, I would have been pissed too, I'm glad it didn't stop you from BFing. I would definitely write a letter/e-mail if you have the time, especially if it goes against their corporate policy.
