Ok, I need to know more about this. I genetically have very bad teeth (you wouldnt know from looking at them) but they're brittle and when I get a cavity it develops quickly. I don't even know anymore how many root canals I've had. I've had a couple teeth pulled, and I have 3 dental implants (one was unavoidable as my body never produced an adult tooth in that spot...bum luck). So yeah, would love to hear more.

Re:  heartburn for all the mamas suffering with that.  I have had success using apple cider vinegar when I feel it coming on.  Drink a shot of it (about an ounce) straight - if you can keep it down.  I don't know how it works (something about heartburn actually being caused by lack of acidity, or imbalance of pH in the stomach?).  But it worked instantaneously for me.

Ive also been trying to drink glasses of milk instead. I find that helps for a little while, and is yummy :) I think I've got something more than just reflux though. I think something fishy is going on my anatomy. The SECOND I lay down I get a gargle sound in my throat like every 20 seconds. Like air is escaping from my esophagus or something, I dunno. Ugh but then the past couple nights I've woken up to actual stomach acid in my throat. The worst.

thats what reflux is loogie.. if its not in your throat its just heartburn.. ive had this for years caused by a lax windpipe and weak swallow /osophogal cover (all of me is to bendy.stretchy etc.. and in the same way my valves in my kidneys regurgitate urine back into them my stomach acid always finds a way back up) along side this i have zero gag reflex. caused by the laxity again.. its horrrible.. if u drink nutrilising stuff like gaviscon it helps with the itch and eases it all a bit :)

ok ive been in denial that this works- for some reason i associate the extra acid with worse reflux. But I am going to give it a shot. Ill be by a health food store today so hopefully I can find a good organic, raw, unfiltered brand.

Um also? I have put the cider vinegar up my yaya, to try to help with strep b and..yeah...i smelled like a salad. :P

This does work!

I had really bad indigestion one day while at my parents for a family meal (I guess I don't know if it was indigestion or what, as we hadn't eaten yet and I hadn't eaten for a while, but I felt like I did when I was coming down with the flu really badly before Christmas).  Anyway, my sister's boyfriend's parents were over, and his mom suggested I try a shot of ACV.  It TOTALLY did the trick and I started feeling better within minutes.  Bonus that I always have ACV in the house.

Apparently ACV is alkaline in the body, so it must just act like tums or another antacid?

I tried this last pregnancy without much success. I think I would be drinking it all day long!

Yeah, so weird.

I always have it in the house too but sometimes it's pastuerized, filtered, etc. I feel like for any homeopathic stuff I'd want to extra good stuff.

I've actually recently tried this beverage that I think Braggs makes...it was a flavored (with grape juice maybe?) AVC beverage. Not bad. Not awesome, I mean, I knew I was drinking vinegar, but not bad. I kind of forced it down.

Yes, yes, and yes.  My biggest complaint is lack of rest usually due to all of the above, plus vivid dreams and/or nightmares.

My heartburn and hemorrhoids have eased up since reducing dairy, gluten, and sulfite intake.  I probably need to remove one or more completely, but I'm not sure if pregnancy is the right time for an allergy elimination diet.  I'd need to do additional reading on whole nutrition to make sure that I didn't accidentally rob myself and baby of anything.

Incontinence is still a "problem" but one easily fixed by a pantyliner.  I do need to grab nursing pads while I'm out today as I woke up with two milky circles on my sleep shirt. lol.gif

Re: Heartburn. You could also try elevating the head of your bed. We bought those bed risers (come in a set of 4) for raising up a bed to store things under it, and just put them on the head of the bed. It's helped me tremendously with acid reflux. Also, lots of water and don't eat ~2 hours before bed. I still have problems with it, but these things help.

I get the worst hip pain at night - I switch sides every 2 hours or so, and I wake myself up in pain and my husband can hear me whimpering in pain. Any ideas how I can relieve pressure on my hips while sleeping? I have the snoogle pillow and a wedge pillow for my belly already. I've tried sleeping in a chair but can't get to sleep (maybe I need to do it more often). :(

Have you tried chiro?  If everything is aligned properly this can help tremendously.  Also, do you have a memory foam topper?  If not, that could help a bit too.

I would have trouble with not eating 2 hours before bed.  The evenings that I don't eat before bed, I wake up famished at 2 or 3am and can't get back to sleep without drinking a glass of milk.  Although, if the alternative were acid reflux, I might prefer to suffer through the hunger...

I sleep on multiple pillows to ease the heartburn. Problem is that raising the head of the bed contradicts with my pelvic congestion problems, which is relieved by raising the foot of the bed. I was joking to DH last night that I need a bed that will fold me in half!

I had terrible hip pain last pregnancy, switching sides every 30 minutes. This time around, we have a softer, latex mattress, so it has not been such a problem. Can you put an egg crate mattress topper on your bed (or two or three). The extra padding really helps.

I think I need to recreate my mountain of pillows from last pregnancy so I can lay on my back very elevated or I'll just start sleeping in the recliner. I keep waking up on my back because I think my hips are getting uncomfortable, but I can't turn all the way over in my sleep. I am having HB, but that has only caused me sleep issues once, it's definitely discomfort causing my issues and I haven't found the right combo of pillows again to make it bearable. A mattress topper isn't a bad idea, may have to get one of those.

Oh, as of yesterday morning I am having pain in my pubic bone when I walk.  Maybe my chiro adjustment on Monday will help.  I should also start wearing my support band from last pregnancy and see if that helps.  I remember it being so comfortable, but tried it on the other night and didn't like how it felt at all!  Maybe I was putting it on wrong or just need to get used to it again...

So, I really want to see a chiro, and even contacted one re: her fees and whatnot. She doesnt take insurance and the first appointment is $300 bigeyes.gif and then $90 for each following visit. Um..yeah...not exactly doable considering we have a lot of other birth costs (doula out of pocket, MW balance after insurance being the big ones)

all those with bad hip/pelvic pain, look into spd, they can give u supports to hold everything together while you sleep and also excersises to help ease it.. i find if i can manually adjust my pelvis a bit when its very painful it eases it, but its no good when its very bad..

has anyone else had bleeding at this late stage.. did u find out what caused it? i cant stop worrying.. i know its silly but bleeding to me signifys m/c's and not knowing whats causing it is driving me mad!

Don't worry yourself about the bleeding ut definitely get it checked out as soon as you can. I had bleeding at 6 and 7 weeks but that's about it.

I just had to chuckle at this.  I took my dog to see a chiro this week (yes, you read that right...my DOG).  It cost $135.  So at least the human version is cheaper!  lol.gif

Hi Steph, I'm sorry you are dealing with the bleeding, it is so stressful!

I haven't dealt with it this pg, but did last time with DS.  It was nothing major but I had bleeding twice, a few days apart.  I went in and they checked baby, who was fine, and did that test to make sure I wasn't in or likely to go into premature labour.  Everything was fine and I never had an answer as to what caused it, but think I was probably just over-doing it around the house.

I hope it doesn't happen to you again!
