Argh! Come back, contractions!

Just in case anyone else is going through this....had fairly strong, reliable contractions about 20 minutes apart for several hours last night after wimpier, erratic ones most of the day. Went to get some rest, and now they're gone. Sigh. I know it's a good thing, I know it's all going as it should, but....DANGIT!!! Telling everyone "Whoops, nope, false alarm" purely sucks.

Yes, I'm going through this and driving myself crazy. At this point in both my previous pregnancies my daughters had been born. I've had so many contractions over the last week, plus Ive lost what is probably most of my mucous plug but no 'real labor' yet. I keep thinking, 'what's wrong with me? Why am I not in labor, is my over thinking it keeping me from going into labor? Stop over thinking it...etc...'

We've just got to relax and be patient in the knowledge that this limbo will soon be a distant memory in the foggy bliss of new babe time!

same thing here, last weekend was pretty erratic contractions, then not much during the week. Then last night I had a few hours of consistent noticeable ones every 12 minutes, went to bed to rest and when I got up this morning, nada. I don't get cervical checks, so I just tell myself that all this practice is my body and baby working on getting in sync and getting ready.

BUT then there's the other part of me that gets disappointed when it stops and says C'mon I am so ready to have this baby, LOL.

Yeah, it stinks, doesn't it?! I had a good two weeks of prodromal labor (regular, intense contractions every night for hours that petered out around 11 p.m.) with DD2, and she didn't come until 41w3d. I am only 35w6d right now, so it would be way too early for me, but this morning I had two hours of regular (much more painful than normal) contractions that stopped when I got out of bed. I had a bad case of gas last night and my stomach was still a bit crampy, so I wonder if that's why this morning's contractions felt more intense. I was glad they stopped, but I hate driving myself crazy with the "is it going to be real this time?" question every time the contractions become regular.

I will say that I knew for sure when I was in labor with DD2; that first "real" contraction was much more intense and painful than anything I'd experienced up to that point. I wehad a c-section with DD1 for breech presentation and low fluid levels at 38w, so I'd never experienced a labor contraction before, but I still knew it was real. It helped that I was past 41 weeks at that point, though. I knew labor was going to happen SOON, whereas right now it's too early and anything before my due date will be wishful thinking or a pleasant surprise, so I think I will do a lot of second guessing this time. Who knows!

Well, thank goodness I have 2 seasons of Downton Abbey to distract me today, that's all I can say! ^_^ ...and at least my house is clean now. I was in super clean mode last night, so today I can admire my once-again-white baseboards in the bathroom

I'm having some labor stuff that started last night, disappeared during the night/while I was sleeping, and picked up again today. But I can't tell if I'm just having some random contractions (like I've been having) and have a weird flu-- I feel slightly nauseous, very tired, and just "off" but not in a fever sort of way. I remember feeling this way with DS2 for a little while the morning before he was born but it wasn't this bad! Luckily I have helpers on deck so I've taken to bed and will try to get some rest. Just wish I "knew". Hang in there everyone!

I have had the same thing going on yesterday morning. Steady nice contractions about 7-8 minutes apart, stronger and a bit painful, not like braxton hicks. Then they disappeared again and I have had contractions on and off since. Both my boys were born by now and my daughter was born at 39 weeks. I keep telling myself to just relax and he'll come when he is ready but it sure is hard at times.

Yup, this is the hardest part, not knowing! My last baby came at 38 weeks (37+5 using my m/w's EDD) and my latest at 40+1 so it is even harder for me to "know" with the wider range. Ugh!

This is my exact situation. I've been feeling super crampy and last night had several hours of not-painful-but-definitely-not-Braxton-Hicks that kept me wide awake at like three a.m. By the time I woke up, the crampiness and contractions had totally eased. I'm not getting cervical checks but tell myself my body is doing what it needs to to get baby out.

I'm only 37 w 5 d and am a FTM, so I'm assuming I have time. But you never know! My mom is INSISTENT that baby will arrive pre-due date because all of her babies came 2-3 weeks prior, all of my maternal grandma's babies came 2 weeks early, and both of my paternal grandma's kids came 1 week early.....

[sigh]

This morning I had contractions again and they are back again now. Just not close together yet. I had my appointment today and I'm 38wks5, they checked me and at least the contractions are doing something. 70% effaced and 3-4cm dilated :). We shall see what happens over the weekend.
If he decides to arrive tomorrow then we'll have 4 family members who have a birthday on the 2nd.

3-4 is sooo exciting!! Hopefully your contractions stick around!

I've been having contractions for a few hours every day, they're so irregular but some are pretty intense. On one hand I'd be curious to know if these daily contractions are doing anything, but on the other, I think I'd be devastated to find they havent done anything, lol.

Yeah, at this point in my first rodeo, I'm just trying to trust that it's ALL doing SOMETHING, because this little girl is still flirting! Had pretty much nada all week, and then I was all set for our Sunday practice labor session, since it's happened the past 2 Sundays in a row, but....nothing yesterday. And by nothing, I mean awful crampiness and erratic BHs here and there all day, mingled with feeling just fine. And it must be doing something, because the mucus started to go last night and is still showing up here and there this morning. So I'm just a slow starter ^_^
