Yeah, it stinks, doesn't it?! I had a good two weeks of prodromal labor (regular, intense contractions every night for hours that petered out around 11 p.m.) with DD2, and she didn't come until 41w3d. I am only 35w6d right now, so it would be way too early for me, but this morning I had two hours of regular (much more painful than normal) contractions that stopped when I got out of bed. I had a bad case of gas last night and my stomach was still a bit crampy, so I wonder if that's why this morning's contractions felt more intense. I was glad they stopped, but I hate driving myself crazy with the "is it going to be real this time?" question every time the contractions become regular.
I will say that I knew for sure when I was in labor with DD2; that first "real" contraction was much more intense and painful than anything I'd experienced up to that point. I wehad a c-section with DD1 for breech presentation and low fluid levels at 38w, so I'd never experienced a labor contraction before, but I still knew it was real. It helped that I was past 41 weeks at that point, though. I knew labor was going to happen SOON, whereas right now it's too early and anything before my due date will be wishful thinking or a pleasant surprise, so I think I will do a lot of second guessing this time. Who knows!
