Hey ladies, my name is Nicole and I have a 5 month old dd.. We're planning to move at the end of 2013 to Wisconsin or Minnesota, right along the river. I had a very bad c section August 2012 and I don't want to deal with doctors next January when we get pregnant shortly after we move. I want a HBAC. But I can't find any laws telling me exactly WHO can attend. My husband is a paramedic but we would like a CNM there too.. Can anybody tell me or post links telling me who can legally attend a home birth in Minnesota OR Wisconsin.. We have friends in both states so worst case scenario we would birth at a friends house. Thank y'all so much!! X

CPM's and CNM's can attend home births and I am pretty sure Traditional Midwives can too. We have any amazing birthing community here in MN.

CPMs and CNMs attend home births in WI, but I suspect whether or not they would attend a HBAC varies from provider to provider. My midwife is a CNM, but will not attend a primary HBAC. However, she will attend the birth of a woman who has already had one successful VBAC.

Following smile.gif. We are considering moving to that area, too--well, Dubuque, or maybe WI or IL in that area. I had a CNM attend my beautiful home birth in TX. I can't imagine going to a hospital, unless I had an emergency, of course. Although Dubuque does have wonderful CNMs at Finley hospital. If you're planning on being closer to the Twin Cities, you'd probably have some good options.

What area in WI? If you are coming to Madison I can give you the names of some of our local CNMs who will attend an HBAC.

Please check out Dr Hartung in Hudson.

Hudson Hospital also has a great CNM practice.

Either way - home birth or hospital birth - you'll need a medical back up. Worth looking into.

Lots of HBAC options in WI & MN.
