Barbara Walters Has Chicken Pox

"Barbara has the chicken pox. She'd never had it as a child," she continued. "So now she's been told to rest, she's not allowed any visitors, and we're telling you, Barbara, no scratching."

In a statement last week, Walters, 83, thanked her fans and "all the people who have called, written and been concerned about me."

Maybe she caught it from someone with shingles. Wild chicken pox is out there in public. I know several families who have gotten it over the past few years but have no idea from where, including recently my friend's vaccinated daughter! A couple of years ago a friend's family all had the chicken pox and her 40 year old husband got them too. He was extremely sick. He didn't realize he'd never had it as a child.

my understanding your contact must be closer with shingles, so she should know - I just wish they would say but they might have to bring up you can "catch" them and we tend not to talk about that part of it- even if it was from shingles!!
