Birthday predictions - Page 2

Mothering.com's mobile interface is pretty good now - I should be able to update here just after updating on FB winky.gif Assuming I remember to bring my phone with me!  It is on the list, but, you know...

My cynical prediction is that my baby will arrive sometime the weekend before my due date, during the day - March 15-17 - because that is the only time my doula is unavailable.  Her backup is also great, but I just don't know her as well.  So that's my "the universe has it in for me" prediction.  If my doula wasn't unavailable those days (she's teaching a doula training course) then I would predict that this baby will be born on March 25 (due date is March 20) - and that I will go into labour in the late evening of the 24th and he/she will be born the morning/early afternoon of the 25th.  My weight prediction for this one is 9 lb 6 oz.  (9 lb 0 oz if my cynical prediction for date holds)

I'm getting a strong sense of February 27 in the wee hours of the morning -- 2 a.m. or so. I'll only be 38 weeks, but that is what my intuition keeps telling me to plan for. My favorite cousin, who I fought with and loved like the sister I never had, is also a Pisces. I'm so curious to find out how the Leo/Pisces dynamic is going to play out for me and my son. Unless he is born really, really early, or really, really late, I'm getting a fish. :)

I'm going with 8 pounds 3 oz.

I feel like there should've a prize for the mom who actually predicts her due date and weight within say 2 ounces. smile.gif

I am going to say March 16th (DDis March 24) and 8 pounds 2 ounces for me.

I forgot to guess weights. OK so, Feb 15. Baby A 5lb 14oz, Baby B 5lb 10oz.

Chapsie: you can call me by my old screenname if you like smile.gif. I doubt I'll get into trouble at this point (i've mentioned who i am a few times and no authority figure has tried to eliminate me lol). Besides, this current screenname was something i pulled out of my butt, not wanting to put much effort into it in case it went bye bye too.

And the labor buddies system is exactly what WLL said. I think its a neat idea because we'll know when everyone is in labor, we can send them labor vibes and all thay good stuff smile.gif. Maybe I'll start a thread for it soon.

Spughy: i love your "cynical prediction"--that is too funny and epic. I can understand feeling like Murphy's Law will come knocking on your door. I hope that doesnt happen for you!

Heres my weight prediction: 8 lbs 11 oz
I like meggsy's idea about a prize for those who correctly guess birthday and weight within 2 ounces.

I guess my previous answer was pretty wishy-washy and I'll need to commit to a prediction if I want the prize... ;)

March 12th, 9AM.

Weight: 8lbs 6oz.

I'm scared to death that they go up in 3lb increments since my daughter was 3lbs heavier than my son. So, he was 5lbs 7 oz, she was 8 lbs 9 oz, which mathematically makes it possible for this baby to hit 11 lbs 11oz. Please let them NOT go up in 3lb increments....

Haha. smile.gif. I will hope this for you, too!

ok... I'll give it a guess, too!!!

I am thinking March 11th, 1:05 am, baby girl, 8 lbs, 15 oz.

I only know of one 11 pounder, Melany, and that was my brother who was born 4 weeks late in the pre-induction era. I think the odds are against it for you, but I will knock on wood just in case I have to eat my words!

Melany I don't think baby weights increase in a linear fashion like that.  winky.gif  Turn off that engineer brain, it's buggin' ya out.  It's much more likely that #3 will be slightly less than #2, because #3s usually aren't in there quite as long.  Second babies seem to be (anecdotal, IME) the heaviest for most families.

I know, I know, but its something that hubby and I joke about to lighten the mood. smile.gif

I am prob the only one who is wishing for a big baby.  Although I guessed small (anything under 9 is small for my family), I wanted to gain bragging rights by having one over 10 lb, 1 oz.  lol.gif

Jodie, too funny. smile.gif. I was 10 lb 8 oz when I was born and believe me, my mom is still bragging about it, haha. smile.gif

When I tell people that I naturally delivered a 9 lb 8 oz baby, the look on their faces makes me laugh out loud! I don't know... There are so many factors... I'd rather push out a bigger baby in a controlled way then a smaller baby too quickly, YKWIM? For my perineum's sake! It wasn't *that* bad. Haha.

We're scheduled for 8:00 am on March 11 but I REALLY don't think we'll make it that far.  I've thought for a long time baby would come early on February 13 (our anniversary) and DD randomly predicted the same thing a few nights ago!  I guess we'll see!  I do think we'll have a big baby if we make it to surgery date.  We had an US at 33w and baby was already 5-6lbs!  0.0  DP was nearly 13lbs and I was nearly 11lbs and 22" so it's not that much of a surprise.  The surprise was my DD only being 7lbs8oz!

It's all so relative. My mom had 6 kids, with 5 "sunny side ups" and one was 11 pounds and she did it naturally...but she barely remembers it ....I guess that's what happens after six kids! Still, she never mentioned it before recently. I think she should brag about it, too!

But in her experience makes me realize that all the angst of childbirth is a matter of perspective...

An idea just occurred to me...perhaps we could each send an individual pre fold to the winner? It's something not too expensive since we are all on a budget but could actually be a nice prize depending on how many of us chime in! And many of us are amassing stashes of prefolds already - perhaps a larger size for down the road. Just an idea....there are probably more fun ideas - this just hit me.

So the story goes... My grandmother's 6th baby was 13 lb 8 oz, delivered vaginally... And my grandmother was 4 foot 11!!!

I was at work today and we had an 11 lb 6 oz baby that was 22.5" long (nearly 16" head!). It was the biggest newborn I have seen in my 6 years at the hospital.

Umm what the ?!? How is it possible to give birth to a mammoth of a baby when you're exteremely tiny?? It sounds like the story got more and more exaggerated over the years wink1.gif

Dang, that IS a huge newborn. Did the mother give birth vaginally?

13 lbs!! Wow. I think I'm really happy that my babies tend to be on the small to normal size. There was a woman on a FB page that I follow that gave birth to an 11 lb baby unassisted at home. I personally can't imagine giving birth to that large of a child.

DH decided that this LO will be born on March 6. Not sure why... I'm going for March 10 since DS was about 5 days past his EDD. Time will be in the evening & my guess is that she'll be around 7 lb 8 oz. She seems to be measuring small right now, but I think she'll rally!!  Of course DH has signed up to run a half-marathon on March 3, so you know that's when she'll actually come!

Yup! This is me! DS1 was 7lbs 1oz. DS2 was 9lbs 8oz. and then #3 was 8lbs 12oz. Baby #2 was my biggest, and he will stay that way because this little girl is measuring exactly right, were as DS2 was measuring 3 weeks bigger in my last month... So unless she has a HUGE growth spurt, I think she's gonna be smaller.

Ah, you nailed it with this comment. DS2 was my biggest at 9.8 and I pushed him out slowly, with no tearing of any kind. DS3, who was smaller at 8.12 was fast and furious, he came so fast he had black and blue bruises all over his face and head for a couple days (midwife joked that he came "tumbling down the birth canal!"), but with that fast birth came horrendous tearing, I tore right up to my clitoris, I didn't actually tear my clitoris (Thank God!) but I will never "look" normal again because of that fast birth.

I have talked to my midwives about this, because its a huge fear of mine to tear like that again. They assured me they would be right in my ear helping control the pushing to breathing contractions... She told me its a p u s h... breath breath breath... p u s h... breath breath breath pattern (if that makes any sense at all! lol) that helps the baby descend slowly yet efficiently.
