Having bloody show this morning, so my cervix is doing something.  :)

did this for a couple days before ds2 came, so hopefully soon!

Had a depressing midwife appt today where I mentioned my itchy hands and feet and so they are going to work me up for cholestasis.  It was kind of in the back of my brain but I didn't realize how seriously they take it.  So they are drawing labs and we'll see what they say.  It would mean an induction pretty much right away since I am 39 and 3 and there is a five times greater risk of stillbirth with cholestasis so it is one induction reason I feel comfortable agreeing to.  On the plus side, I am 2cm dilated now, so maybe this kid will just decide it's time and we can skip the induction!

Oh my gosh, me too. I might die. But at least I know the *maximum* amount of time I should have to wait.

Odinsmama, good luck! So exciting! Cileag, I hope things get started on their own soon or that you get a super easy induction!

Had an u/s at 37 weeks Jan. 28 where baby measured 9lbs (+/- 1.6 lbs). I'm not really worried that he's too big, I figure they probably overestimate in a lot of cases, so he could be 7.4 lbs which doesn't seem HUGE for 37 weeks, and my OB seemed to agree with me at my appointment 2 days later when he was going over the preliminary reports of the ultrasound, but then today I got a call from his receptionist, they've scheduled another u/s for me Feb 5 and requested that I bring DH to the OB appointment Feb. 6.

I have a feeling he wants to talk about moving up my rcs date which is currently scheduled for Feb 25 @ 41 weeks.

He was also recommending me coming in twice a week for the next couple weeks to have my membranes swept in the hopes of inducing. This will be a VBAC so I'm really really hoping I go into labour before my scheduled c-section. He had said that they won't induce me chemically due to the past c section, which I don't think would work anyways since the reason for my last section was because I was induced and the pitocin did nothing after 13 hours (at 41wks3days).

I keep waffling on if I should let him sweep my membranes or not... Just because baby is big, that doesn't mean he's mature right? However, it would be GREAT to meet baby now :) I just want to go into labour on my own so I don't have to worry about all this stuff irked.gif

Wow, Dakota, that sounds awful, I'm sorry you are you going through that at your work.

akemi, I'm sure you are already aware of this info, but just in case...

That's from Henci Goer, author of The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth.  Sorry I don't have an even better link on hand.

I hope that labor starts on its own for you! And I've seen predicted "big babies" be normal sized babies time and time again, so I'm glad you know that.

As for the membrane sweep, I am doubtful that it will work if baby isn't ready, so I wouldn't worry too much about pushing him out. It is totally your choice, of course, to accept it or decline it, but as interventions go it probably has less negative side effects than most (discomfort during the sweep and crampiness afterwards seem to be the main ones).

But then again, I'm biased because I'm thinking I might ask my midwife to sweep my membranes at next week's 39 week appointment, if my cervix is favorable. We'll see...

sorry about the fall, kellybeth!  getting to my car has been dangerous and i think gave me the pelvic pains b/c it's been so icy.  but i have also not been wearing the right shoes when 'i'm just going....'

HA.

as for 42 weeks, UGH!!!  really, your odds are best in the week before and the week after your due date.  42 weeks is so rare!  so here's for the baby being on schedule-ish.  i only went past 42 weeks b/c i knew my conception dates were not matching w/ any other dates.  i would be surprised, knowing the conception date of this one, to go that late.  i think 41 weeks is way more likely.

Odinsmama that's really exciting!!

Today my midwife told me, if I felt comfortable, to ease up on "anti-inflammatory" vitamins as she's read that they can prolong pregnancy. There was some study where moms who took them went a week later than moms who didn't (all around full term, healthy pregnancies). So no more fish oil or probiotics for me. Even though I'm scared to go off of them.

AH! I SWORE I had cholestasis as well, don't panic mama!!! I ended up just having a small gallstone. Also I started using a new oil on my skin, so maybe a combination of both for me? I know with gallstones you can have the same symptoms as cholstasis. I got labs done and an ultrasound on my organs and baby. Everything else checked out perfect. I was MISERABLY crazy itchy for a few days, where I thought I was seriously losing it and terrified of induction, as I am having a home birth. No worries until you get results back.

I've had no time able contractions, no bloody show, not even any mucousy discharge. Just feeling anxiety and emotional, and ready, mentally and physically. I know baby will be born when SHE is ready, but sitting at home all day mentally prepping everyday and hanging out with my two year old is getting to me :/ I FEEL great, not a single complaint, so just need to come to terms with its babies choice when to come. ah. so much easier said than done.

How many weeks are you now? I'm 39 weeks today - woohoo!

Having new symptoms or annoyances? Well plenty of annoyances, but I'm trying to remind myself that pregnancy won't last forever.

What's making you smile this week? My husband is home and not deployed.

Are you getting some early labour signs? Yes, which is getting really frustating.

How ready do you feel for your birth on a scale of 1-10 100! ROTFLMAO.gifI'm ready to have this baby. Trying to be patient, but it is not my strong point. DS was 2 weeks early, DD was a week and half 'late.'

I just remembered this because it was the middle of the night, but I was laying on my side with body pillow kind of half on my stomach and I swear I could feel the baby breathing. Is this possible? It weirded me out and was keeping me awake so I had to change positions lol. But it was this up and down motion inside me that I've never felt before !

Hope everything turns out all right!  If you're already dilating, there's a good chance it will be an "easy" induction.  Maybe you could go ahead and start trying natural methods?

I'm 36w5d today, and was 3 cm dilated at my appointment today!  I THINK that's a good thing...  I remember being 3 cm for maybe a week with DD, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it's encouraging to know that the occasional painful contractions that I've been having have actually been doing something for me.  I'm still going back and forth on whether to encourage these babies to come asap or keeping them in longer.  Since they dropped Monday night I've had really painful SPD, and I've been so physically incapacitated for so long that I just don't think I can handle it much longer.  OTOH, it's probably good for the babies to stay in a little longer...  risks supposedly start going up at 38 weeks for twins, and I'll be pushed to start natural induction measures at that point - chemical induction by 39 weeks.  Honestly what I'm debating at this point is whether to DTD tonight ;)  I have this feeling that if I do I'll be headed for the hospital tomorrow - but maybe that's wishful thinking.

loveandgarbage, that is so interesting! I hadn't even thought about that. aahhh, makes me want to take back all the cod liver oil I've been downing this week. I am really ready for this baby to make her entrance!!

.....aaaaaand I am now officially done with work as well. I felt awful this morning, shaky and fuzzy, checked my bp and it was 146/98 right out of bed. Went to work, checked it again 152/82 Called my doula (homebirth midwife) and she really recommended I call my midwives. So they had me come in, still elevated BP, not super high, but not good, and I had some protein in my urine so they had me go to l&d, with a warning that if anything looked off (labs, bp didn't go down, baby not looking good) they'd want to start induction. They monitored baby, who looked awesome throughout, and drew some labs to check liver and kidneys. After 5 1/2 hours they let me go home (thank goodness my labs were all good, and bp decreased to 123/78) on modified bed rest, and with a big jug to pee into for 24 hours.

About an hour before I left work I warned my boss I might not come back, because I thought they might freak out about the BP, and he wanted to do my annual evaluation before I left. I seriously had to laugh. At any rate, I think it's for the best. I'd rather avoid any complications from the BP and a pitocin induction, even if it means a little less time with the baby, at least these last few days/ weeks of growing will be relaxing and not stressful.

Yes it is possible to feel practice breathing, especially if you were very fit before pregnancy and don't have lots of "fluff" orngtongue.gif
