Mighty Tite

Thread Starter

So, does anyone else hesitate to buy Diono products because of the existence of the Mighty Tite?

I *want* to like them, and they seem like wonderful seats, but knowing that the company markets something that is considered to be so unsafe just bothers me.

How do you get past this? (do you?)

I feel the same. Companies make what ever they can sell. Not sure how much safety really matters.

I use Diono car seats, but yes, the very existence of the Mighty Tite bothers me too.

Unlike the Mighty Tite, the car seats have to pass federal safety standards, though, so at least there's some oversight there.

I'm no expert but I go on a per item basis. If the radian gets great reviews I'm comfortable getting it, regardless of what else they make/sell. I'm the same way with strollers/carriers/cloth diapers. While I'd love to only support ethical businesses, I have to get what has the best chance of meeting our needs as far as I can determine

No the Mighty Tite doesn't make me lose confidence in my carseat. In fact I think the Mighty Tite was born from a true need (people without enough strength to get a seatbelt or latch tight) and is probably only damaging to seatbelts when used incorrectly or overused. I fact, the way the Mighty Tite functions is now a feature on some carseats latch systems! I don't have a Mighty Tite and I won't use one because there's enought doubt in my mind about whether or not it's safe but none of that doubt transfers to their other products. In fact, I feel like that company has an excellent safety record.
