Heading to Kaiserslautern

My family and I are moving to K-town in June.  I have a little one, a 13 month old son, and I would love to connect with some other crunchy or crunch-friendly mamas. We breastfeed and babywear.  I am sad to be leaving a wonderful parenting community here in Olympia, Washington.  But I'm hopeful that I can find some like-minded mamas to hang out with in our soon-to-be new area.

Hi! Just logged in for the first time in a while, so glad I saw your post! I/we am/are headed to Ansbach, which is a couple of hours from k-town, in just a few weeks. I know I won't be in k-town, (I'm jealous, by the way), but I am definitely crunchy and not that far away. I also have a 13 month old son and am looking for mamas like myself. Would love to get to know you!

Yay! We're moving to Kaiserslautern in April! I'm a breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, cosleeping, APing mommy of two. I have a 24 month old boy and 12 week old girl. I hope there is a good little gentle parenting community, but if not, I fully intend to get one going. :]

Danie333- I am glad to know more crunchy families are on their way to Germany! I have met very few crunchy parents here, but I am not saying there aren't any, just that I don't know where to find them! In general, much of Western Europe is supportive of a somewhat natural lifestyle (organic/ local produce is fairly easy to get and earth preservation and nature are important). Birthing in German hospitals is geared to natural birth (birthing tubs available, midwife led delivery, and low intervention.) I know that baby wearing is becoming more common, and natural/ gentle parenting is also known. As far as the Americans in the area go, I think we have a little bit of everything... but I hope to get to know more like minded people in the area!

Vanessa- I think it would be really nice to get a group together! I am all for helping with that

I am so excited to hear from you all!!!  I just talked to another mama in my community who is headed to K-town in July.  I think we are going to have a sweet little parenting community happening! 

Jh3370, thanks for the info!  I'm especially glad to hear that organic and local produce is pretty easy to get.

I live about an hour away from Kaiserslautern and originally come from Seattle, WA.  We've lived here for 14 years now and my last four children have all been born here (my first was born at the UWMC).  We're also a fairly crunchy family--cloth diapering, sleep-sharing, extended breastfeeding, baby led weaning, selective/delayed vaxing, babywearing (and toddler, lol), etc.  My kids range in ages from 15.5 y.o. down to 4 mos. old.  We  miss the PNW a lot but we are very happy here.  I hope you will be, too!

We are moving to Ramstein in Aug 2013. This will be our 3^rd assignment to Germany. I have one 10yo son. We are secular homeschoolers with a slight lean towards unschooling and self guided learning. While I've never called myself crunchy, I have been lovingly called crunchy by friends.   My main interests are in nature, chemical free sustainable living, art and community gardening It looks like there are many more like minded folks on here than any other forum I've found so I thought I would introduce myself.
