Unassisted homebirth

Thread Starter

Has anyone had an unassisted (planned or not) or is anyone planning to go unassisted with this babe?

My hubby who was against homebirth at first is now possibly on board for unassisted HB! I am empowered and excited. I've not had an unassisted birth before and I know I want a totally natural and peaceful birth. So naturally this is a consideration.

Would live to hear anyone's experience with this.

Dd2 was a UC. I actually like having midwives. I like having that strong calm energy from other women when I am in labor, but I was living In a country where it was illegal for HB midwives to attend my VBAC. So that was that, for me. We decided to prepare as best we could, had herbs on hand for hemmorage, and monitored her HR during labor- as opposed to a more "faith based" (for lack of a better term) approach to UC. I found the UC boards here on mothering to an invaluable resource both info and support wise.

It was a wonderful experience. It was long and hard, but incredibly empowering and healing for me.

My advice is to support the placenta when you deliver it, so you don't tear the membranes and retain a chunk! (I know there is a thread on the UC board where I talk at length about it!)
