*~*~*~*Spotlight on cocoanib!!!*~*~*~*
How fun! I knew my day was coming up, but got surprosed when i saw my name :)
My babygirl is super silly and has a sense of humor much like DH's. They both are so funny and come up with the craziest stuff to say. She's got a good balance between her feminine and masculine self. She loves long dresses, painting nails and wearing her hair down, but she also is loves getting dirty and having a messy time inside and outside.
People only say she's like me when she's acting ornery or shoots someone a serious look. Then there like, yep that's your girl!
I think I'm good with 2. Originally it was 1, but I really wanted DD to have a sibling to experience growing up with the same parents. I have an older DSD, but she doesn't live with us and is 18 now. They have a great relationship, but it's different than having a bro/sis closer in age and growing up in the same household.
What made you start blogging?
What do you love about it?
My poor blog is so neglected. One of my goals for the next few months is to start up posting again.
I think I started, because I love sharing stuff with people. Experiences, recipes, anything really.
Also, it's nice to have others witness what goes on in my life.
What other hobbies do you have?
Making up new recipes (baking, cooking), sewing, crafting, herbalism, travel (although, I don't get out much these days), beautifying our home...
Where are some cool places you've traveled to?
I was in the military, so that allowed me to experiences some places I otherwise wouldn't have. Places like Bosnia, and South Korea were culture shocks, but so amazing.
Outside of the miltary, I've travelled through parts of France, parts of Germany, Japan, some of the Bahamian Islands and Caymans. About 1/2 of the United States. I would really love to explore here more.
What trip had the greatest impact on you, and where would you like to take your kids when they're older?
The coolest to date is Tulum, Mexico. I had longed to go there for so long. For years, I researched and read about how ecologically sound most of the establishments are. It seemed like the perfect place to vacation and explore and it was. Even more special, we went with members of both sides of our family. Cenotes, ruins and ziplining during the day, then rita's, delish food and lounging around at night. Here's a great documentary that talks about trying to balance tourism with the delicate ecology of Tulum and the Yucatan Peninsula http://vimeo.com/57584254
DH and I have plans to purchase property there in the future.
I would love to take my kids to South Africa, specifically Cape Town and Soweto. After a week or so there, we would head up to Botswana for another week of exploring. I'm in the beginning stages of planning a family trip there. It's going to take awhile, but I would love to go in 2-3 years.
One of the things I'm finding a love for is revisiting places that I've been while single, now with my family. It's a whole other experience!

Cocoa, I grew up in Long Beach before moving to a city in the San Gabriel Valley and then to San Bernardino Valley in college! How long have you lived there and do you plan to stay? What are some cool things Long Beach has going on that you and/or your family enjoy doing? Do you have a strong community of like-minded mamas out there or are they hard to find in the vast sea of people? If there is anywhere you could live, where would it be?

I LOVE Long Beach, but never intended to live here! I was in a quick type moving situation and looking to purchase my 1st place near where I worked. There happened to be a condo here in LBC and I work just a city over, so I bought it and moved in a matter of weeks. It was just me and my dog, Merlot at the time and the little place was perfect for us.
After moving here, I got to see how awesome it was. I was walking distance from Farmers Markets, the beach, the Arts district and several museums, all kinds of ecclectic boutiques, bars and restaurants.
I've since gotten married, added another dog and have baby #2 on the way, so we moved about 1 1/2yrs ago. We love it here so much that we couldn't imagine moving out of the area, so we got a house 5 blocks away from the little condo!
At the end of last year, we opened our own little natural baby boutique here, so we plan on staying for a long awhile.

We love to just walk or ride bikes around and find stuff to do. This past Monday, after running errands, we walked down to the Pike where all the boats and light house is and just wandered around. Babygirl ran around chasing birds and just having fun doing not much of anything :) We stopped here and there at fountains or to feed the birds. We had a nice lunch over looking the marina after and then headed home.
Do you have a strong community of like-minded mamas out there or are they hard to find in the vast sea of people?
Oh yes, there is a nice little community of like minded Mamas here. I guess I never really realized until we opened the shop. Now, we have meetups and events where AP minded families can come and have fun or share struggles and find solutions.
I also find that downtown Long Beach in general is very open minded and excepting of everyone. That's one of the things I love about it.
If there is anywhere you could live, where would it be?
Right now, here. I should be a spokes person for the city of Long Beach :) Seriously though, it's just perfect for us right now.
In a few years, we may move on overseas somwhere, but that's not set in stone.
LOL! That's my baby :)
Okay, I am either a total dork or its because i only surf the web on my phone now but i didnt notice that youre in Long Beach!! I am only about 20 minutes south of you
Who is your biggest role model in life and why?
That would be my mother. She passed away a few years ago. She was a DIY kind of lady about everything in life. Not just household stuff, but life in general. If she wanted to do something that other people thought was odd or impossible, it didn't stop her, it only drove her further.
She also had a huge heart. We were best friends and I still just adore her so much!
We should definitely get together sometime! I havent explored the area much yet but I'm sure that will change over the next several months. It would be great to meet you and have our kids play
It's never too late! :)
Cooking and baking is few and far in between for me right now , so I do a lot of nonbaking.
Night before last, babygirl was asking to make a chocolate cake, so instead we made some raw chocolate balls.
nuts, cocoanibs powder, dates, vanilla and sea salt.
It was fast, she helped and I rather her and I both be eating those, than actual cake right now :)
I miss eating and cooking like my normal non-prego self. It's one of the things I can't wait to get back to after baby and postpartum.
