What is a normal progesterone for 4 weeks? And is a level dropping from 15 to 10 in 48 hours...

Ok...I got 3 positive home pregnancy tests on a Sunday. I went to the dr and got blood work done that following day (Monday) and they called Tuesday and said that my HCg level was at 128 and my progesterone level was at 15. They said I should be about 3-4 weeks pregnant. They wanted me to go back on Wednesday to re-test because they said that your HCg level should double every 24-48 hours. So I got my blood work re-tested on Wednesday. They called on Thursday (today) and told me that my HCg level had more than doubled (it was now at a 325) but, my progesterone level had dropped from 15 to 10. The nurse made it sound like it was no big deal. She said that as long as I stay above 4 that it will be fine. A level of 10 is still quite a bit over 4, it just worries me that it dropped, especially 5 points at that. She offered to call me in some progesterone cream and said that I don't have to do it, but it would help to reassure me that my level wouldn't get to low.

 

Should I be worried, or is this that some women experience also??

Your progesterone level changes from day to day and from hour to hour.  It's not constant.  That could explain the change.  If you tested it again tomorrow it might be up again.  A supplement might be useful especially if it would make you feel reassured.  Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Ok thanks so much!! That makes me feel so much better!! Everyone keeps telling me to quit worrying about it because it will just cause me to stress and they said that's the worst thing I could do right now. I just want to make sure everything is ok with my baby. This is my first child as well as my first pregnancy so it's kinda scary lol all I keep worrying about is everything that could possibly go wrong. But, I've gotta stay positive!!

Don't stress about progesterone levels.  Seriously.  I wish they didn't even tell you this stuff if you don't have a history of losses.  I missed a few cycles and my OB checked mine and said it was so low that I probably hadn't even ovulated that month.  I was devastated and freaking out because I thought there was some big problem.  Turns out that was the month I conceived and I went on to have a healthy baby girl.  It was just a randomly low reading.  Like the PP said, it spikes and falls throughout the day. 

 

Congrats on your pregnancy!  Go do some yoga or meditate or something and get ready for the exciting ride ahead!

Ok thanks so much for the advice!! It helps put my mind at ease!! I am just soooo ready for my first dr appt so I can hear the heart beat and know it is ok!! :)

Good news!! Went to the doctor last Thursday and everything is good!! Got to see the little baby on the sonogram and everything!! :)
