February TWW Thread - Page 20

Marquess A few months ago, during a particularly obsessive TWW,  I'd used all my HPTs and used an OPK to feed my POAS addiction, just to see what would happen. I too got a positive result. I did not check again, got HPTs that day, but did hit google looking for confirmation that +OPK could mean pregnant. What I found is that OPKs will often be positive if pregnant (the LH strips will pick up Hcg) and if so the test line will be significantly darker than the control, a very clear positive. But they are far less sensitive than an actual HPT and if your HPTs are negative, you probably aren't. Your LH levels can vary throughout your cycle (and vary woman to woman) and many women can get what looks like a positive or approaching positive OPK when it is no where near Ovulation. Your tests look close to positive but the test line still looks a bit lighter than the control. Is that true IRL?  Hormones can be very frustrating! That said, I SO hope you are pregnant!! Have you tested with your FRER? What about getting another brand today and holding your urine to check with concentrated (4-5 hours) SMU? Keeping Fx, Marquess!!

Jjh So good to hear from you!! Sounds like a great plan to focus on taking care of yourself  thumb.gif  It is so hard to make yourself a priority, and I found it became increasingly more difficult once I was a mama, but so vital for our own wellbeing and our ability to take care of our families. I do not have experience with the at home sperm analysis kits but have thought they sounded like a fantastic first step in checking out everything, and not too costly (I saw some on Amazon for around $40). I tried the First Response Fertility Tests for Women twice last fall to check out my own fertility. They measure FSH and can indicate diminishing fertility (both were reassuring and indicated no problems). I personally just preferred starting with what I could do in the privacy of my own home. Let us know if you do check out the SA. Big hug.gif to you. I totally understand the sad and discouraged feelings. I wish I had answers for you!!  I found having a plan and something to do has been really helpful for me last month and this current one. I am temping/charting, which gives me great information and confirms exactly when I O, and I did see my Ob/Gyn for a complete workup earlier in this cycle. Both things feel proactive and give me something to have some control over. And yes, I know a lot, truly many, women with PCOS who successfully conceived. I know two women quite well with PCOS who have even had unexpected pregnancies, thinking they wouldn't/couldn't get pregnant without assistance after successfully conceiving #1 with some interventions. One woman had a single oops and the other has had two, due to deliver baby #3 in May!

AKK Sounds very promising!! That is exactly what my IB was like with DD, but I didn't know what the heck it was then! I remember being so disappointed, thinking it was pre-AF spotting, but then realized it never progressed, just the one wipe, very light pink and watery. I had forgotten about it until after confirming pregnancy a week later when I started reading pregnancy and baby books and saw a mention of "Implantation Bleeding" Fx!!

Chourd Sending goodvibes.gifand om.gif as you are waiting to O. Fx that you catch that egg!

AFM Only 5 DPO. Trying not to symptom spot as well but having SO much creamy CM! Like crazy amounts. Not at all typical for me. And my breasts are super sore/tender, also not the usual here until just before AF. Been having lots of pregnancy and newborn dreams. Last night I had a dream about nursing my newborn and woke up with that tightness and let down feeling, so weird! It's been about 6 years since my DD weaned.

We're off to rollerblade, scooter and skate indoors with a bunch of friends later this morning. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!! blowkiss.gif

so, dont jump on the congrats bandwagon, but yes i took the FRER this morning and yes, there was a faint pink line.

my history with FRER is jaded however, so i dont trust it. for me, there is almost always a line on FRER :( makes me incredibly sad. i would love to do the happy dance right now, but im not.

it doesnt photgraph well, but maybe you will see it too. but like i said, dont congratulate me yet. its still early and this is prob not accurate :(

my cheapies wont get here for a few more days so i am prob gonna go buy some $ tests to use in the mean time.

I just checked fertility friend and O'd on CD 11 or 12 this last cycle and I got pg. So there's definitely hope. I've noticed been O'ing early for a while, even before TTC. Seems like barely a pause between AF and O. I don't know if it has anything to do with nursing, but I'm still nursing my 3 yr old.

yeah. so i bought another FRER. against my better judgement. took it with SMU. same result. cheapie was clearly BFN. hate FRER. top one in the pic is FMU bottom is SMU. i took the covers off this time so you could actually see them. IRL they are pink but like i said, they dont photgraph well.

Well, AF arrived yesterday, so my feelings about not being pg were correct. This makes a 24 day cycle for me with O at CD11, which seems to be common for me. Anyone else with cycles that short? Any fertility issues with that? I can't quite remember if mine have always been that short, as I have had Mirena in for the last year (removed on November 21), and was pregnant before that.

I'm fine with not conceiving this cycle, but I'm not looking forward to restarting the whole process again next month. I'm just not a patient person! It probably will be better for DD to be a little bit older when we have another one (she is 17 months now), but I feel ready to be pregnant again!

To make the best of things, though, DH and I went out for dinner last night, and I enjoyed a really good martini and a glass of wine. Not getting pregnant last month has also made it so I can participate in a study with a local university hospital about fertility after 30. A little cash payment, a free ultrasound and HPTs (only 2 a month, though! ha!), and an opportunity to advance reproductive science. Maybe I was meant to help out! I went today and had my baseline bloodwork done for the study. So, maybe this will give me good TTC karma?

Good luck to everyone still in the wait. I'll be trying again next cycle (when I ovulate in ten whole days... geez!).

Wait a little bit! I'm kind of anti frer too because of this issue but the whole positive OPK thing has me wondering for you... Good luck!

Sparkle- you're always a wealth of knowledge and SO sweet! Ill have to try the fertility monitor and at home tests for DH. Maybe ill just be proactive and get him some vitamins and help him on a healthy track to promote healthy swimmers!

Primal- I have a fairly short-ish cycle as well (26 days) and I've been TTC for a year with no luck. BUT with you just having gotten rid of mirena I'm willing to bet that your body is still in an adjustment phase!

Early loss for me. :'-(

Not much else to say right now.

Oh no, Renaissance. I'm so so sorry. Hugs.

Renaissance - I am so sorry.

De-lurk...

I'm so, so, so very sorry Renaissance.

Primal: My cycles trend toward the short side as well with them averaging 26 days. My last two cycles have been 25. Sometimes they're longer, with 29 days being the longest I've ever noticed. I tend to O around CD11 but have also O'd as late as CD14. I've got two DS's so shorter cycles don't seem to be an issue for me.

Renaissance, I'm so sorry about your loss.  It can be devastating to lose a baby, no matter how early along; I wish I wasn't speaking from experience.  Wishing you a gentle grieving process and peace hug2.gif

Oh, Renaissance I am so, so sorry. Wishing you you peace and comfort while you grieve and process this loss. Please take time for yourself, be good to yourself and allow yourself to feel whatever it is you are feeling. Know that we are all here for you, mama. grouphug.gif Lots of love and hugs to you.

Jjh You are so kind! The First Response Fertility Tests are pretty cheap and simple. You just have to use it on Cycle Day 3, First Morning Urine. It's a POAS test. You have to leave it for 30  minutes, if I recall correctly. I found mine at Walmart with the pregnancy tests and OPKs but I've also seen them (and the at home sperm analysis kits) on Amazon too. Good luck!

I'm really sorry I haven't updated you all.

I was going through an emotional roller coaster. I wanted to update you though, I got a "pregnant" on a cbd this afternoon!

I feel fine, and I took it on a whim. And I got my result I wanted smile.gif

The reason I have been so crazy emotional, is because I just got the bfp today, and my period is 2.5 weeks late. You can imagine what kind of crazy it has made me.
And I have been taking tests for weeks now, all negative.....I don't know what happened. Late implantation, long cycle, whatever. It about drove me insane.
