12 month old solids strike?

DD just turned one today (yay!) and for the last 2 days she has really not wanted to have anything to do with solid foods.  Mind you, she's never been *crazy* about solids and really only started eating at about 8-9 months. I'm wanting her to move in the direction of eating more food, not less! She's seeming to really get that she can get me to give her milk whenever she signs milk and is kind of on a power trip about it or something.  And she's nursing all night right now too.  I guess I'm getting worried because I know breast milk is all they need in the first year, but we are into the second year now... Add to that we haven't done a well baby check up for any deficiencies and I'm just stressing needlessly because she is growing like a weed.  Anyone have a similar experience where their LO regresses in their eating?

Just wanted to add she would barely even look at her birthday cake today, let alone touch it!

Has she started teething? If she's getting her molars she might just be a little sensitive in there and want her ultimate comfort food. That's too bad about her birthday cake, that's a fun milestone.

I second the teething. Hang in there, Mama.

Thanks mamas, I'm thinking so too as she's up almost hourly at night too. Luckily, except for eating, she's a cheerful little thing. But eating is a screaming mess, literally.

I guess I just need some reassurance that she can't get overweight from nursing, because she is a milk monster right now! My poor boobs!

Oh, no. She wont get overweight from nursing. At this age, they are growing so fast and becoming so active that they burn up whatever you put into them. Breast milk is health food, think of it that way. No one ever got fat eating too many salads, right?

My youngest went through this at 14 months.  She really just stopped eating just about all solids for about 2 or three months.  I always and continually offered....but I remember when it happened.  We were on a vacation and she wasn't eating much.  I was trying to get her to eat....even a doughnut.  She just wouldn't have it.

She always was cheerful and gaining weight and nursing so I wasn't really worried about her health but it was baffling to me at the time.
