I think a kid might get teased with Cash as a first name. Maybe use it as a middle?
I think Evey is a cute name, but when she's an adult she might want a legal name that sounds less like a nickname. What about Eve? Or Evelyn?

Evelyn is a good idea, thanks. I have also been considering Elliot (Eli) for a boy.

I agree Cash is a great middle, you can call him Cash by his middle but he needs choices. I'd go for Eve or Evelynn and Evey as nn. Or Evey as middle?

yeahthat.gif  I agree!

i agree with the Evelyn option too. That's my favorite aunt's name and she goes by Evie so maybe I'm biased.

I kind of like Cash for a boy.  I think it might have been on our list last time. I had an old roomate whose had an uncanny talent for coming up with the schoolyard take on any name (like how little kids would change your name to tease you). He had a pretty unfortunate middle name so I think he was particularly sensitive

we've mostly been focusing on boys names for some reason. maybe I just assume I'll have another boy.  Here are my favorites at the moment (some of which have already been vetoed)...

ferdinando

santiago

ramon

doyle

declan

yeah, there is a definite latin versus irish theme there.

and my favorite girls names right now are...

georgia

adelaida

lucille

elsie

all of which are family names

whether we have a girl or boy I think their middle name will be my grandfather's name.  I've been pushing for that since long before I got pregnant and DH has yet to veto it.

if my son had been a girl he would have been Clementine but for some reason I feel done with that name.  Like it was his name so I don't want to use it on someone else.

I love Declan for a boy and Lucille for a girl. Very unique but they keep the heritage you're looking for.

DH named DD so I'm calling dibs on the next girl name! I loooove Eleanor but unsure of middle. I'd love to honor my mom but I'm not crazy about Francis or Irene... I may ask her for input & maaaybe let her pick the middle, hoping that would be almost as special as using her name.

DH loves the names Graeme & Ian, and the middle would be William to honor both of our fathers.

This is basically our list from the first pregnancy so it almost feels like we should start fresh for this baby, so I don't know... maybe we'll kick around new ideas after 20 weeks.

What's your guys' opinion on naming a child something very similar to a parents' name, but NOT.  Like, changing one vowel.  Example, dad's name is Lowell, son's name is Lyle.  Or Dad's name is Mike, son's name is Mik.  Or.....  Dad's name is John, daughter's name is Jan.  Will it just be too much of a tongue twister when people are referring to parent +kid in a sentence?   Most of the time the parent is known as Mom/Dad in the household, but not when extended family adult members are addressing one another.  Then it's MIL asking you if John (your husband) and Jan (your daughter) will be joining you when you _____.  KWIM?   Or your mom asking if Lowell and Lyle are coming with you on ____ trip.  Does it get too jumbled in the mouth?

Try the new introduction test.
I'd like you to meet Mick and Mike.
Or Happy Holidays from Susan, Mick and Mike. But if you love the new name fine but will your kid appreciate it? I talked a friend Kyla from naming her kid "Myla"....seems cute would be confusing maybe.

Well it has come about that my husband and two sons all have biblical names, so I think that helps solidify which "category" if you like, from which we will make a choice. Marc is my current front runner.

We have decided on a boys name Nathan Xavier but for a girl no we havent. Im convinced its another boy. We have two girls and 1 boy. Our son is named after my husband, Anthony Silva. My oldest is kaitlyn hazel silva and my middle is Madison Sophia Isabella. Silva is a family name not a last name.

Nathan/Nathaniel/Jonathan is on my list!

my kids all have the last name walker--so of course i've given them all the middle name "sky"...but i also give them another middle name to celebrate their conception.  this one was not planned & i always joked i would name such a child "accidental sky walker."

but i'm not going to do that....i thought of  "serendipity sky walker"--but then everyone would figure out she was an accident.

now i think i'm going to go with "wonderful sky walker"--wonderful is a loose synonym for a fated event which i feel that this is.

so it will be her first name followed by wonderful sky walker.

...i'm hoping my kids won't hate me someday for this winky.gif

I have my girls names picked out... but the boys names I'm still throwing around. I really want it to be a girl!

girl's names are :

Sophia Satya

Satya Sophia

Leela Sophia

Sophia Leela

Leela Satya

Bija Sophia

boys names....are kind of hilarious.

Jedi

Shadow

Shadowhawk

Hawk

Lux

Luca

Silas

I really like the name Silas, but my husband doesn't. Silas Shadowhawk would be my first pick.

Ok, too bizarre.  Lux and Luca are the frontrunner boy names for us.  My jaw dropped when I saw that you have them listed as your choices.  First of all, the name Lux came to me in a dream and I had NO idea anyone has ever thought of Lux as a baby name, that's crazy!  I think I even have a post about how I chose that name in one of my earlier posts on this thread.  As far as Luca, I love it, but my husband...not so much.  I think of Luca as the acronym for Last Universal Common Ancestor (Google it) whereas my husband thinks of it as an Italian name that we have no business using.  Lux has started losing it's luster for me because it doesn't go well with our last name which starts with an "S."

But, anyway, wow...my jaw is still on the floor.  How coincidental is that?!

P.S.  I would be careful with Leela Sophia.  My friend is part sells products for a very hot, up and coming jewelry brand named Lia Sophia.  Maybe it's going to be nothing, but how big of a bummer would it be to have people accuse you of naming your kid after fashion jewelry.  Gorgeous name otherwise.

I am having no luck with names so far! I really am not feeling like anything works with our last name and the few I do like are "taken" by someone we know well. I think my problem is that I usually like short first names. But our last name is short, so they don't go together. I think we'll probably wait until we find out if its a girl or boy to even think about names. Because its just so hard!!

soleil-- I like either Luca or Lucas!! Hilary Duff's baby is named Luca, but I also really love the name Lucas, Luke for short... it's kind of like Silas. As for  Lux, it's like Nyx.. short and sweet and really unique-- and it means light!

My ds is Lucas and we love his name, it really suits him. We know a few boys names Luca/Luka as well and it's a lovely name too.
I am adamant this bub is a boy, only a month until our scan and I will be so shocked if its s girl. Being the third boy though its hard to find the perfect name. So I plan to sit on my hands until we know for sure.

I love Ace.  I think it's a great name... I think Jett is another awesome rock and roll name.  (Or at least I think it's rock and roll... my niece was in preschool with a rock stars son named Jett...

YES!  We know an Ursala, and I don't think anyone associates it with a commercial princess.

For a boy we're thinking Cash

For a girl Evey

Any thoughts?

I like Cash!  We know and Eve-y (Spelled Evie) and an Ev-y, (short for Evelyn)

I like Serendipity! A lot of people grow up knowing they weren't purposefully conceived, and it's not a big deal.
