What prenatal vitamins/supplements are you taking during your pregnancy?

I'm currently taking Rainbow Light Prenatal One's.  I like them because they are food based and don't make me sick.

I just switched from Rainbow Light to Vitamin Code Raw Prenatals because the RL vitamins were causing me to be really constipated. Unfortunately I'm having trouble with the VC ones as well. greensad.gif I guess I will have to start taking colace with my vitamins again. I already take flax seed oil. I'm going to start taking a B vitamin complex too, I heard it can help with morning sickness.

Currently taking folic acid and iodine here.

John16n33 - I am taking those too, but finding them very difficult to swallow - they are huge! I'm thinking of switching over to the RL Prenatal Petite when this bottle runs out, but of course I bought the big 150 count bottle for the best price so that will be a while.

I'm also taking the Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA supplement.

I take the Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA too. My multi is the Thorne Basic Prenatal.

For constipation, have you tried ground flaxseed (along with a full glass of water)? It works better for some people than flax oil. Flax oil is more for the essential fatty acids, whereas flaxseed is more about the fiber.

Speaking of DHA is anyone taking other supplements besides prenatals?  I was taking 2000iu of D3 a day but stopped because I wasn't sure it was safe.  I am also going to start taking vitamin E again.

I've taken 1,000 IU of D3 everyday for years now because I live in the Northeast and work inside during daylight hours, so I don't think I've ever really gotten a good natural dose of D. I did not cut back at all while TTC and have continued with it since getting my BFP. I have not found any indication of it being unsafe. That is the only other vitamin I've been taking besides the prenatal multis and the DHA.

I take prenatal vitamins (can't remember the brand), 2000ius of D3, fish oil, and probiotics.

You can ask your doc to test vitamin D levels. Ideally should be around 50 or 60, but certainly no lower than 30. I think there was a recent study of supplementing vitamin d 4000 IU per day in pregnancy and offspring had lower rates of asthma. IIRC, the benefits were especially noticeable if the mothers had asthma. Some other time I'll try to post the study if ur curious. Of course do ur own due diligence and check with ur midwife, ob, or naturopath.

Oh and there is another study about probiotics in pregnancy reducing rates of eczema (and allergies, asthma) in the babies. This was in cases where the mom or dad had a history of eczema, allergies or asthma.

I take Premama Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix because I have a lot of trouble swallowing prenatal pills. I have horrible morning sickness and can barely keep anything down. It's a flavorless prenatal supplement mix that you can mix in a drink. It's been all I can tolerate! It also contains ginger root for nausea which is great. You can find it online at www.drinkpremama.com

That Premama Vitamin Mix Drink sound great! A friend of mine took a ginger root supplement to help with her morning sickness as well.

I'm taking the Rainbow Light Prenatal Vitamin, D3 2000 iu, and a vegetarian DHA supplement. I'm considering taking some chlorophyll too, which a midwife suggested and I did during the 2nd part of my last pregnancy to boost my red blood cells.

I take Juice Plus whole food supplements.  And if I need it I have Floradix herbal/food iron supplement.  Also, I have flax oil, or Vineyard Juice Plus...which is the plant version of good oils, just not fish.  I would rather do flax over fish oil.  Also, I get a lot of my nutrients from herbal teas, especially from nettle which is nutrient rich, and alfalfa.

If you are experiencing morning sickness, walk a mile a day.  This will help flush the excess hormones through your liver and system...which tends to cause the sickness feeling.  Fresh air probably helps.  Ginger and peppermint.

I take Rainbow Light Prenatal One vitamins, along with a large dose of vitamin D, fish oil, melatonin before bed, and my allergy meds. I added 100 mg b6 this morning because I'm starting to feel crappy. I'm sure I will be adding an rx for reflux soon, too. I also need to order some Hemaplex, because I always get anemic during/after pregnancy.

I'm  on Vitamin Code Raw Prenatals and New chapter Wholemega. I don't know a whole bunch about vitamin supplements; I went off a recommendation of the woman at the health food store. What are your favorite resources for info on this stuff?

Anyone else hear that vitamin C and E are not maybe the best to take, but better to seek in food?  I guess as antioxidants they facilitate dangerous cell growth by killing free radicals who kill cancerous or pre-cancerous cells.

I eat kiwis and citrus fruit to get C and peanut butter for E, a brazil nut per day for selenium, then take as individual supplements A, D, B-complex, B6 (as of last weekend for nausea), & then supplement all the minerals i can find (more than half a dozen) individually, and take the fish oil for omegas.

I eat tons of broccoli,Greek yogurt, eggs, berries, nuts, beans....

last few days not so much..... Blech. Sour stomach.

I have heard that too much vitamin c isn't the best. So I too am seeking in foods.

I was wondering about melatonin, did you get that cleared with a doctor or naturopathic physician? I keep meaning to ask around about that.
