Prenatal vitamins - Page 2

I pretty much researched on my own and came to the conclusion that it is ok to keep taking a small dose. I will probably ask about it at my appointment on Monday and see what they say anyway, though.

LC, how is the hemaplex on your stomach? It is better than the iron in the prenatals? I find they bind me up quite badly, no matter which one I take.

I've never had an issue with it bothering my stomach.

I have MTHFR, so I have to take a higher dose of more bioavailable B-vitamins (4mg folate as L-methylfolate, 35mg b6 as p-5-p, 2mg b12 as methylcobalamin). I also take CitraNatal Assure and Life's DHA, but I'm thinking about asking my doctor for a different one because they are making me really sick. I used to take New Chapter Organics Perfect Prenatal but my OB was concerned bc they aren't FDA regulated (doesn't bother me, but because of my past I'm erring on side of caution).

Sarah - I took New Chapter prenatals, calcium and omega 3 during my last pregnancy.  They were the only vitamins that didn't exacerbate my morning sickness.  And I'm with you, I don't much care that they're not FDA regulated.  Or rather, I should say that I don't put much stock in the FDA stamp of approval.

My thoughts exactly. I wound up stopping the CitraNatal for now and in addition to the B vitamins & folate I'm taking Flintstones vitamins. Probably worse than anything else but it's all I can keep down and the nausea was so bad that I was concerned about throwing up too much. My OB says it's okay as long as I take folate and we can play catchup on the prenatals later!
