As we say farewell to the first month of 2013 and welcome February, we took a look at topics of discussion that engaged the Mothering community, raising  applause and hairs and general sharing of opinions and experience. Here are some of the most popular from around the forums.

The Welfare Moms - Should we be supporting moms so they can stay at home with their children? discussion in Parenting

was actually started nearly two years ago but was recently revived and turned into a challenging discussion among members with a variety of opinions.

Piers Morgan falls ill days after a public flu shot with Dr Oz in Vaccinations Discussion and Debate is a hot topic! Debate is often passionate about vaccinations so it is very easy to get pulled into many directions of opinion but also very informative too.

Using both parents' last names  by VeryLovingMama garnered quite a few posts of opinion in this regard.  New parents often struggle with baby naming conventions so if that’s you definitely give this one a read.

Do you think it's cruel not to make children extra food if they don't like what you made? by OliveJewel is a topic for many parents who struggle with finicky eaters. What do you do when your child doesn’t want what you’re serving? Come share your ideas and experiences with the other parents in this situation.

The members in the forum have run six previous challenges! If you’re trying to lose weight and want some supportive accountability, come sign up. Many thanks to lilacvioletiris for getting things going and supervising the 7.0 challenge!

Enter to Win a Homeschool Curriculum and Gift Basket from Oak Meadow! in Learning at Home and Beyond really racked up the posts! It posed the question “Why homeschool?” as a giveaway entry participation post and has seen a lot of great contributions about why families choose to educate at home and as a part of everyday life rather than within the confines of school. Thanks to our Mothering-devoted sponsor, Oak Meadow, for the great prizes. Stay tuned for an announcement of the winners!
