1babysmom, can you remind me of those bras you love again? I know you posted them a while back but I need to look into some new ones. I don't know what happened to all my nursing bras but they are RAGGED!

post #43 of 3822/3/13 at 6:37amI just ordered a handful of the Wrap Nursing Sleep Bra from Motherhood. Motherhood is having a buy 3 get 1 nursing sale right now.
I think that if they are as great as people say, they will be invaluable for the first 5 or 6 months. I tend to just sleep in a sports bra and undies anyway. And being home spring and summer, maybe I can just make them my go to bra.
On another topic...the other night, my husband just said, "I want you to think if you want something special when the baby is born- a special present, food, flowers..." I really appreciate it, wanting to please me, but all I can think of now is...the support you are already going to give will suffice. Has your partner ever asked this? What did you say?

I actually brought up the birth gift as a joke after reading about it on this website. I was like "Oh good news hun, guess what?! I just found out I'm supposed to get a gift after giving birth!" We laughed about it and haven't brought it up since but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets me something anyway. Probably just something small that he knows I like or maybe something I haven't been able to have while pregnant or something like that.
We're trying to decide if getting a 3d ultrasound is worth the money for us. We would love to be able to see the baby again and have some nice pictures (we have a frame someone got us as a gift for an ultrasound picture but don't have a pic for it) but it is kind of expensive. We don't have any medical reason to have another ultrasound so we would just go to this place in Saratoga that does elective ultrasounds. They have several packages and we've been torn between the $99 one that has
- 10 minute 3d/4d ultrasound
- two color and two black and white prints
- gender determination
or the $169 package that has
- 20 minute 3d/4d ultrasound
- three color and three black and white prints
- DVD recording of the session
- gender determination
Idk I feel like the extra 10 minutes might be worth it in case he doesn't cooperate at first and the DVD would be nice but is it worth that much money? We have our tax return coming soon but I would really like to save as much as possible. It's tough though because I feel like I will regret it if I don't get it. Did any of you get one and did you feel like it was worth it?
We are also in the process of registering for gifts for the baby shower and feel completely overwhelmed. There is so much stuff! I feel like most of it I don't know if I'll even need.
Sidenote: This child has decided that it would be fun to kick Mommy in the bladder today. He's been at it all morning. I've tried to get him to change positions but no luck so far. Any tips?

Not that I'm GOING to ask for any of this, but I think my perfect after-birth gift would involve sushi, whiskey, and flowers. LOL- alaskanmomma

I'm already anticipating sending DH out to go get me Village Inn or Denny's after C's birth lol. I LOVE breakfast food, and both are 24 hour places...
Am I the only one who finds those super gigantic baby bows just.. ridiculous? Everyone I know is in loooove with them and I've gotten a few for Calliope as gifts, but I HATE them lol. I like the small lacy headbands, but the bows the size of baby just make me cringe, they are so ugly!! Even the HK one I got makes me go "ew".- alaskanmomma

Quote:If beer can make breastmilk come in, why not test the theory with whiskey hahaha! I can imagine at the very least it would make the after birth pain be considerably lower :P

I'm curious about this too. My little one has her feet at my bladder and it's so uncomfortable!

We're going to be be making an apt for an elective 3D ultrasound in a week or two. This is our last baby and we've never had a 3D one. With my last two LO's, my mw had an u/s in her office so we took quick peeks at the baby from time to time but the mw I have now doesn't so we've just had two - one for dating at 7weeks and the anatomy scan at about 24weeks. Since we're taking permanent bc measures when he arrives, I'm nearly positive this will be our last baby so I'm feeling like this is something I want to do. I know there are a lot of varying opinions on elective u/s (especially on this board lol) but I feel like I will regret it if we don't. So, that's just my 2 cents, for what they're worth.

I'm not much of a flowers girl, but... I could go for double the sushi. LOLQuote:Originally Posted by alaskanmomma

Oh man! I love this idea, too! Bacon! Lots and lots and lots of bacon! And gravy biscuit, I do love me some gravy biscuit!
(Great, now I'm hungry again...) LOL

One of my friends has one for her daughter, with a flower on it, and the flower was literally bigger than her baby's head at first! Ridiculous, IMO, but I would never go so far as to say anything. I think if this LO is a girl, we'll not even do the lacy headbands as often as we did with DD, I'm starting to realize I want to go with less frill, and more... whatever I see that I like, or more neutral, if that makes sense. If it's a girl, put her in blue sometimes, not worry so much about "gender specific" stuff so much.
AFM, I've been having a *ton* of CM today. I thought for a minute it might have been something wrong, but no odor or colour, so probably okay. I'm anxious to start on my list of providers tomorrow, I'm feeling better today than I was the other day, so hopefully that means something. I'm also going to go get our taxes done tomorrow, so hopefully they'll get accepted and we'll get our refund back soon. I'm excited to go baby shopping!

This link showed up in another forum here on MDC and I wanted to make sure you ladies saw it: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1449230935/the-dairy-fairy-bringing-the-beauty-back-to-breast?ref=48hr It's a super cool adjustable-cup nursing bra that has a kickstarter. I think I'm going to back it as my "girls" are uneven, even when not pregnant/nursing, so I think this will be perfect for me. Plus, it's got a built in hands free pumping layer.

COMPLETELY AGREE. I'm thinking about making a few little girl headbands myself just in case I'm right and this one is a girl, but I think the typical over-the-top massive girly bows are...awful. lolpost #53 of 3822/3/13 at 3:24pm- IronMam

I'm demanding Corona, Champagne, and Sushi be made available to me the second this boy is out. I' won't have both Champagne and Corona at the same time, but I want both options. It's so weird, I *know* Corona is a crappy beer (we like nice beers, and DH even brews his own), but it was one of the first beers I ever had and I just love it with lime.
I got DH to take me to the craft store today (my BIL kept an eye on DD). I got supplies for an "It's A Boy Wreath!" to hang on our front door. Then he surprised me and took me out to lunch. It was SO nice...because I'd been SO depressed for a day or so. I had some fantastic French onion soup. And in a few minutes we'll all watch the Superbowl. We're not that into football, but it's fun to have yummy snacks and watch a game. Plus I like watching the commercials to see if there are any good ones.

Yay for not being alone with the gaudy bows
. I'm pretty girly, but guess my girlyness isn't coming out as much with this girl. With Autumn everything HAD to be pink or I'd hate it/pass it up, now Calliope has hand me downs from Sylas, green car seat, sharing diapers with big bro, etc. Guess the frills of a girl kinda passed with me!Besides calcium magnesium, anyone have any tips to help with achy feets/hands at night? CM does notta for me and it's what my midwife swears by

I don't like the big bows either. Babies are so sweet and innocent and pure, and those big flashy bows just seem to clash with their nature. I'm sure I am thinking too deep about it, haha. At any rate, I think they look silly :)

Quote:I had my 1st DS at 39 weeks and 2nd DS at 37 weeks. We weren't sure on dates for DS1 but I know the date of my LMP and the date he was concieved so I know he was born at 37 weeks and I shouldn't do this to myself but I'm counting on this one being born at 37 weeks too. I know I should shoot and plan for 40+ for the healthist baby but DS2 was perfect at 37 weeks. He was 7.6#~ I have put myself on "birth alert" starting the week of March 25.

This boy is being mean to his mama! Lol. I keep getting elbowed or kneed or something. He is so pointy! I have a feeling he's going to a skinny babe when he's born....though, if he's anything like his sister he will get super, adorably chubby on mama milk in no time.
Have another chiro appt. today, and am going to maybe make an appt. for prenatal massage while I'm there. I'm still waiting to hear back from the non-government insurance on whether the chiro or my family doc has to order it, but I'll schedule it for next week so I can cancel if I have to.post #59 of 3822/4/13 at 8:44am- Greenlea

Quote:Get on all fours and keep your back straight like a table. The lower your back and stick out your butt, letting your belly hang low. Go back to table position, then arch your back, bringing your pelvis in. And repeat. Table, cat, cow its called. Its supposed to help with getting the baby in the right position for birth. Also, not sure if you can, but when I lay on my back I can actually move the baby around by pushing it to where I want him/her to go. I've gotten the baby out of my ribs doing that a couple times.
I found out yesterday my sister is pregnant also and due 8/18. Very excited for her. Only problem is she is already heavy set and being 12 weeks already, needs my bigger maternity stuff, but I'm currently using it. Some of it is hers, and I feel bad having her go out and buy a bunch of new stuff. I gave her some of my bigger pants and sweaters, but I know I'm going to need bigger pants soon, so I guess I'm off to the thrift store to try to find some.
I can't believe I still have 12 weeks left. Please baby - come early!!! I'm so done being pregnant. Midwife appt this week. And I think they're gonna want me to do the glucose test. Gonna try and get out of it though, we'll see. I have gained waaaay too much weight for my liking right now. I'm going to try to up my protein and cut out carbs to try to curtail too much more weight loss. I just went to town this pregnancy and am feeling like crap now because of it.
I start my doula training this weekend. Very much looking forward to it. Can't wait to start a new chapter in my life.
