AlaskanMomma, so sorry about your loss! :-(

I am not what you would call crunchy either. I am pro-circ, NOT CDing, pro-vax (although I do agree parents should be able to choose whether or not to vax their child. If I did anything in not getting a vax, probably would be delayed vaxing or selective vaxing. I will NOT get the flu shot, pnuemonida shot, or gardasil shot for my daughters.) I am also pro spanking (although with a hand only. If my daughters grandparents or fatjer use a belt, heaven help them cause they will see a side of me they wish they never met!) You just have to make the decisions that are right for your family.

I've had painful braxton hicks, and only 1 or 2 "real" ones.

Regarding the ultrasounds, we have only done two medical ones out of 4 babies (including this one) and they were for the same baby. I was worried and needed to know he was ok.  For the others, I've felt like it might cause more worry so we haven't done them. This time, we are getting two fun ones done. One at 20 weeks because I had to know what we were having (dh moped for a week after finding out it was a girl and I cant' handle that after working so hard to push a baby out) and one next week because dh really, really wants to know what she looks like :)

Just bought a used playpen this morning and it's AWESOME. $100 bucks for a Carter's play yard in good condition ($250 new), that comes with not only the bassinet level, changing table, and organizing shelf, but a bouncer! I didn't even know they manufactured play yards with built-in jumpers! We never bought a playpen for DD, but I really wanted one this time now that I'm wrangling two kids. DD did have a used bouncer she loved though. I just love that I don't have to have space for TWO huge things (or buy two things). The bouncer part is fairly small, and will be easy to stash away when not in use. Actually, for now it's in the bottom of the play yard, below the bassinet level. And it was easy to set up, so that's a plus. We're not setting up a crib for Theo until we move, and have more space. At night, he'll sleep with us in our little "Close and Secure" cosleeper thingy we bought when DD was a newborn.But during the day, I'd rather he be napping out with the family, where I can see him (and where he can learn to sleep through anything, lol). And the colors aren't hideous on the playpen, so that's a bonus. It actually coordinates with our family room pretty well. I'm still going to have to figure out where to squeeze in the swing, but it's also pretty space efficient (the Graco Sweetpeace model), so hopefully we can manage in our little space.

Anyhow, yeah. I'm just excited to have gotten one more thing done (and saved us money to boot)! I was hoping I'd find a good play yard with the bassinet and changing table for $100 or less, but wasn't seeing much that wasn't totally ugly, or at the price I wanted. Now I've done it, AND gotten the bouncer too. I've noticed that used items don't often get sold as cheap here in Canada as they do in the States (or, at least as they do where I grew up in Ohio). So even used, it can be hard to score a good deal. Now we won't have to spend another $50 or more on a jumper once Teddy is bigger. So yes, I'm pretty stoked. :)

You made me check, and I have 79 days left! Insanity, I tell you! I am waiting ever so (not!) patiently for my tax refund check, that is how we are getting the bulk of what few things we will be getting. DF said I can go to this big "mama sale" they are having in Fort Wayne next month, with 100+ mamas selling stuff, so I'm hoping I can get some good cloth diapers there, and maybe wrap(s) too. I'm so excited! (And really quite nervous, as well, but we'll not talk about that.  )

They might not be as intense as the ones I have. I got them at a vein specialist a few years ago. Mine are like white socks, but with medical conpression, so you have to "peel" them on/off to get them on correctly. It is just REALLY hard for me with a giant belly. Thankfully I only choose to wear them at certain times but yeah....no small task.

The compression socks arrived yesterday. I wore them for the first time today. Def not something you can put on by yourself! They feel a little tight (obviously) but otherwsie not too uncomfortable. Although I did notice that I was tired from walking around more so than other days - might the socks make a difference?

53 days til our EDD. BUT... Just abt 28 Days til we ditch the stitch! And she can come anytime after that!!!! Yikes! Ahhhh lol

Which ones did you  get?  Are they knee-highs?  I've been looking at a pair on Amazon too.

Oi what a day.

Woke up this morning feeling pretty rough so DH took DD to school for me. Then shortly before I was to leave to pick her up, I realized the dogs were gone. The gate was open and they were missing. I flipped out! I ran out towards the front calling for them and THANK GOD they came running around the house. I was so relieved I instantly felt like crying but boy did that throw me for a huge emotional loop. Had I waited longer they could have wandered off towards a very busy street or been picked up. I hated the feeling of realizing they were gone. Horrible, yuck. 

The good news is that my parents are moving to CA from OR tomorrow!! They are making the long drive starting early in the morning and should be here mid to late evening. I am really excited for what it means for our children to grow up near both sets of grandparents. I'm also really happy they are here for me. =P

Done. Gawd. She's cute! Her hair is a similar color to my DD...just a hint of reddish-ness. Lovely!

Also, don't hide in shame because you like ultrasounds! Opinions differ of course, but there's plenty of research and 30 years of very, very common use to support their safety when used normally. :) Besides, mamas deal with enough shame about every choice we make (no matter what the choice, someone will criticize us for it, and treat us like we're a bad mom). You don't have to apologize or feel bad about your prenatal and birth choices. Haters gonna hate. You do your own thing! Whether that thing is an ultrasound or no ultrasound, finding out the sex in advance or not finding out, home birth or hospital birth. We're all just making the best decisions we can for ourselves and our families.

I would probably get one of those fancy 3d/4d whatever ultrasounds if I could justify spending that much money. Everyone does the best they can, and just because you like ultrasounds doesn't mean you should feel ashamed! (Really, I could keep talking, but it wouldn't sound as good as IronMam's comment, so I'll stop.)

ME TOO! They're pretty neat! I can't believe how clear an image of baby's face some people are able to get with those. I'd totally get one, especially since there will be no more babies for me. But I have to pick and choose which "luxuries" I want most, because we can't afford to do everything we want. So, when it comes down to a really awesome diaper bag I'll use for as many as two or more years and will help me stay organized and sane, or a twenty minute ultrasound, the diaper bag was a no-brainer for me. I can wait a few extra months to really see his face. :) I try to save as much as I can on the stuff that's not as important to me (like getting used clothes for day-to-day, and used gear), so that I can afford to spend on the things that do matter to me (like not buying a used car seat, and replacing the nasty rocker with a nice nursing chair).

Wooohooo! I LOVE scoring a good deal, especially on baby things that are SO expensive new, and aren't used much/sometimes at all or weren't used by the original people but are something you'll wear the heck out lol. I bought a $200 swing off CL for $80 and when I had it at a garage sale, my MIL sold it for $100
