Birthing Plans - Page 2

We will most likely have another homebirth. My first son was born at the hospital, my second at home, and I was much more relaxed here. Additionally, my first delivery was quick for a first, my second was fast, period. I realize that anything could happen with this one, but if it's anything like the first two, I'd prefer birthing at home to birthing on the road. smile.gif

That being said, we're in a different financial position this time, and we may end up needing to birth at the hospital for cost reasons. I'm staying open at this point. Knowing more about childbirth from prior experience makes me feel confident that I could have a better experience in a medical setting. Most of the hospitals here in Maine are fairly flexible, so that's a good thing.

Home water birth with my husband and midwives. Im very excited about it and looking forward to the experience!

I booked the midwife who delivered my last child (and has over 30 years homebirthing experience) who was birthed at home.  However, my partner is not yet on board with a homebirth and I really want his support.  I bought some books for him and we will discuss it later on.
One interesting option is that our nearest major university hospital now has a hotel attached to it, and I thought about renting a hotel suite with a jacuzzi and making a private scenario for a homebirth away from home.  That way, the hospital is only steps away in case there's any need, and my partner can feel relaxed about that.

I wish I had a choice! We'll be having a scheduled c-section since a fibroid right near the cervix makes it impossible for me to push anybody out. Although who knows--my OB last time was willing to at least see if the baby would drop, but that never happens. It's maddening, because I'll be in the Netherlands, the land of the normal home birth with all of those lovely birth centers and oh, I don't even want to talk about it. However, maybe I'll be able to get my prenatal care with a midwife--because I was an intense case certain to end in tricky surgery, I'd been heavily "doctored" in the past. We'll have to see, maybe I can at least get the pre-natal/post-natal care part of the midwife experience!

Aloya that's what I am doing as well, I am opting for an elective c-section the second time around but I am still going with a midwife because I love the prenatal/postnatal care.

Cool to hear so many Mommy's will be doing homebirths!! A close friend of mine delivered at home about 9 months ago, and had an AWESOME experience. As for me, I'll be doing an unmediated VBAC at a hospital.

I had a hospital birth with my son that ended up being everything I didn't want. This time we are going with a home birth. I found an amazing midwife and I can't wait to start going to my prenatal appointments!

I at first thought I would do a hospital birth with a midwife again. BUT, last time I had Ahcccs (az government insurance, same as medicaid/medicare) so it was "free", but this time I have Aetna and it is going to cost like $3000-$4000!!!! So my doula from last time is now a midwife student at a free standing birth center and just preliminary research, looking at there website and contacting my friend, I am thinking of going there. She said it would cost $3000. It is sad that money has to be deciding factor to where I will get prenatal care and give birth but even when you have insurance you get screwed!

We paid $4000 last time around for a homebirth and will probably pay that much this time. It's worth it, to me. With my first, I went to a hospital after the birth (it was an unplanned unassisted), and it was horrible (did all these interventions without my consent; threatened to call child protective services on me for trying to leave within 24 hrs, etc...). Just won't do it.

Mine was a few hundred. Totally private midwife with thirty years experience. I feel lucky!

We have been dreaming about this! Homebirth/maybe water birth with a midwife.

My son was born after I had been in labor for three days at home, most of it horrible back labor. When we we finally admitted to the hospital, I opted for the epidural. I just don't want to be numbed again. I was already 6 cm so I probably could have gone the whole way, but I was uneducated and I thought you "had" to go to a hospital and I was scared of my back labor coming back. I did use a midwife, and overall it was a decent hospital birth, but I really hated all the procedures and rules afterwards.

next baby I want to just keep in my arms with no one taking him for anything for weeks, lol. If that's a he that is.

my son also did not latch on until he was 5 weeks old. I think the combination of iv fluids, Adema in my breasts and his circumcision left him pissed off the first few weeks of his life.

I trust birth and my body more now, and I have a great support system. I feel like I've done it one way, and now I want to do it the way I want to do it, lol.

I will probably end up with "shared care" I got an OB and Midwife. I have prothrombin gene mutation (blood clot thing)and a liver hemangioma, etc. I'm too complicated medically to say mw the whole way. I also have fast a labours with the last 2. So I will prepare for home, plan on a hospital birth and try to relax.

I'm planning on a home waterbirth for the twins. I really wanted a UC eyesroll.gif but DH said no way. We found a hands off midwife who will let DH catch the babies and just watch from the side and has had 2 sets of twins herself at home so we feel really good about her. I love home birth!! energy.gif This is my first pregnancy. I watched my mom give birth at home in a birth tub for the last 5 of my siblings

i'm hoping mine will be as pain free and easy as her's. (fingers crossed)

I will be having another homebirth. I am undecided as to have a U.C. or have a midwife and just call her late into the labor....this is my fiance's first so he is looking forward to the check ups etc. and very excited for a homebirth. My last homebirth was only 2 hours long with 3 minutes from the time my water broke to delivery :)

Well I think my dreams for a natural or homebirth went out the window with the fact I will be on blood thinners soon.
I'm okay. But the thought of an induced or section birth makes me a bit sad, but healthy and alive is the goal. My mw is going to be crushed. My GP and hemo said OB.

Planning another homebirth here! This time i'll be renting a birthing tub though. I wanted to stay in my tub but my back labor was so harsh I couldn't bend properly to push successfully until I got out and used the birthing stool. Squatting is probably how i'll push this time around

Planning my 6th homebirth!  My third was a semi accidental unassisted, which was wonderful, but I like seeing midwives that I love.  It can take work to find the right one, but I've managed to so far.
