So sorry, just seeing this. I moved and have had limited Wifi access. Okay so...

I am Julie. I live near Chicago with my husband of 7.5 yrs Brian, and our two boys Zephyr (almost 4) and Nico (2).  I am planning a hospital water birth this time around. I had a home birth with DS2 but insurance won't cover it this time, so going the midwife/hospital route again. And I'm okay with that.

I am starting my doula training this weekend and hope to eventually be a lactation consultant and dabble in birth photography too. I got into natural birth while pregnant with DS1 and I took a Bradley Method class.  I love helping out pregnant women and helping with newborn questions. I just want to help women have the birth they want instead of being pressured into unnecessary medical interventions.

I'm pretty crunchy - cloth diaper, extended breast feeding, co-sleep, baby wear, no vax, non-circ, and my family are all vegetarians.  I do a lot of natural remedies in our home and try to stay away from the doctor if possible.

What else...hmmmm....any questions? LOL!

Hi Julie! Have you ever tandem nursed? Just curious as we seem to be headed that route. Thanks!

I have not tandem nursed. DS1 weaned at 10mths when I got pregnant with DS2. I night weaned DS2 at almost 2 yrs because I could not get him to sleep at night at all, bad part was he also weaned himself during the day.  I would if it presented itself, but haven't had to yet.

I love that you have unique names for your chikdren. How did you come up with them?

I'm right there with you on trying to stay away from the doctor. Other than being pregnant I hardly go. It takes a LOT to make me go. And DD tends to be super late on her well visits. It's funny that DH is a pharmacist though since I'm really against taking a lot of medicine.

Do you have any pictures you feel comfortable sharing?

A little while before getting pregnant with DS1 we were going to move to San Diego from Chicago. We were packing up and selling off things and were going to rent out our townhouse. We weren't planning on having kids for another 5 yrs. Then I got pregnant and everything changed. We stayed in Chicago. We went with the name Zephyr because it means "west wind" and we thought it appropriate as we were going to be heading west. That, and the whole Zephyr Surf shop and Zephyr skate team...my DH was really into that at the time.

Nico was actually going to be Jude for the longest time. When he was born he didn't look like a Jude. I went back to our list of like 10 names and Nico just fit him. That and Nico means "victory of the people" which my DH found appropriate because he was born in 2010 very close to election time and my DH was helping with a campaign and found it fitting.

My husband Brian and I started dating in H.S. at age 16. We got engaged at 22 and married 5 mths later in October. We've been married for over 7 yrs and together over 14 yrs.

Do you have names picked out for this LO yet? Do you have a theme for baby's space? What's your favorite color?

So far if its a boy it will be Maxwell Lee (Lee is my mom's middle name) and if its a girl it will be Gwendolyn Juliet.  Gwen is my DH's deceased Aunt and Lynn is my MIL. Juliet is for me.

These names could very well change before baby is born though.

Baby will be in our bed for quite a while. We'll have a cradle (which is antique originally what my Grandmother slept in as a baby) for the beginning is (s)he's not in our bed. Then we'll have to decide if we want the crib in our room or the pack n play. My guess is that baby will just be in our bed though. DS1 was in our bed until 6 mths and DS2 was in our bed until 12 mths.  Right now my boys share a room, and while there is room for the baby once it gets older, we only live in a 2 BR apt so not show how its all going to work out yet.

Personally I like greens. With not knowing if this is a boy or a girl its harder to pick out things for baby. I love the whole owl motif thats popular right now though. But since I won't be decorating a nursery, I guess it doesn't really matter. My SIL will stitch a baby blanket for the baby in neutral colors, but all my NB and 0-3 mth stuff is neutral anyways.
