Busy day! Didn't get around to finishing this until after 8pm.

Okie dokie. So, pictures first, I guess! :)

Here's DH with DD on Christmas.

And me with DD.

And one of me with DS (lol). I need to take another one for the belly pic thread.

Let's see. Um, I was born on an Army base in West Germany. But my parents divorced when I was a baby. My mom remarried my step-dad when I was three, and he's my real father. My bio "dad" has never been a part of my life (which I've written about a lot on my blog).

My family all live in Ohio, and I live 1,800 miles away in Calgary, Alberta. I miss them a lot.

I met DH when he went to university in the States. He grew up in Ontario. Then we moved to a little city three hours east of Calgary called Medicine Hat. That's where DD was born. We moved to Calgary because DP wanted to get a second bachelors in science while waiting to get into med school (since he had already gone back to school to get pre-medicine prerequisites and only had two years to go before the second degree). But then Alberta student financing told him...we'll finance you for one more year, which isn't enough to finish the degree. So he's working in a lab testing foods for pathogens and shelf life while waiting to hear back from the schools he applied to this cycle. He's got an interview at the University of Calgary medical school later this month. All the other schools he applied to are in the US (including one near my family). It's super stressful waiting and wondering and worrying.

I started, but didn't complete, a BFA in painting and drawing. I'd like to go back to school someday and complete a degree (probably in linguistics or a BFA or maybe exercise science or nutrition - lol - I don't make up my mind easily). Until then I'm doing the SAHM thing, and blogging. I love to write. I've also got a novel in progress, but I haven't worked on it in a while because I'm stuck on some plot problems. I should probably just force myself to write past them, but right now I'm too busy focusing on baby-related projects.

I like to craft (sew, loom knit, digital scrapbooking, crafting in general), sometimes I like cooking, I usually like baking. I also like running, watching movies, LOVE reading, LOVE writing, like drawing, photography, etc. etc. etc.

Most hobbies I try, I love. My problem is finding time and money to do them all.

For some reason, that sounds *really* cool!

I've never heard of digital scrapbooking. How does that work?

How do you like living in Canada? Which do you prefer, living in Canada, or living in the states? (If your family could be close to you either way.) What's the biggest difference between Canada and the states? (Sorry, DF and I have always talked about wanting to live in Canada, and for a bit even were planning on moving there, though I don't know much about the logistics of moving internationally, without any "strings" like having a job in the other country, or being accepted to university there or something).

What, if anything, has been your favorite part about this pregnancy? What kind of birth are you planning?

I LOVE Canada. If I could move my family here, I'd stay forever. Though, shopping in the States is a lot less frustrating. Everything's cheaper (except health care wink1.gif ) and online shopping is much more fun. Canadian shipping ain't cheap, and a lot of websites won't ship to us at all. I also much prefer a lot of the politics here and will be sorry to leave behind marriage equality, among other social stances, if we move back to the US. Though, it will be easier to lobby for change from within the States, I suppose.

My favorite part of this pregnancy has been feeling much better. I've taken better care of myself nutritionally and physically and it shows in not only my appearance, but how much energy I have. I've also grown a lot as a person since I had DD, and I'm just more productive now. So I feel better about myself overall. Plus, we have better prenatal care options this time, and a little more money, which makes things a bit more fun and less stressful.

We're planning a midwife attended home birth, provided nothing happens to change that between now and then. We both actually have a lot of faith in doctors amd evidence based medicine (DH wamts to be a doctor, after all!), but i also feel that well trained midwives are a great option for normal, low risk prgnancies. Plus our hospital doesn't have birth tubs, and while I don't care whether I give birth in the water or not, I know it does a lot for my pain management. We didn't really have an extra $500 to spend on the birth center (which isn't covered), and our home is at least as close to the hospital as the birth center anyhow, in case we need to transfer for some reason. We're renting a really nice birth tub. I'm looking forward to not having to ride in a car during labor. That is THE WORST. I hated it with DD. hopefully, this labor will not be as long either (hers was 36 hours).

Ahhhh! I feel like we could be BFFs if we were friends IRL! It seems like we are a lot alike.... I SO want to start writing a novel. I just feel like I wouldn't know where to go with it once I finished... and all of my time would probably be wasted.

Anyway, your family is super duper cute.

What do you think will change most about your lives when you introduce little Teddy?

What kinds of things have you been able to experience living in Canada that you never got to experience living in the states?

You should try NANOWRIMO. It's a fun experience, even if you don't go back and edit the work. And most areas have local groups that meet up in person during November (and some meet up monthly, year-round).

I think the biggest change, until we get used to it, will simply be logistical. DD is just getting to the age where I'm starting to have to juggle her schedule (just tonight I had registered her for a recreation class before going "d'oh! She has preschool at that time!" And I had to switch her to something else). I'm busier than I used to be myself, and if DH gets accepted this cycle, we will have him in medical school on top of everything else. I have ADD on top of all that, and we've only got one (very small) car. So it's just going to be a big challenge to work everything out. I can't even do groceries without having to drop off DP at work (and pick him up at the end of the day) because he has nobody to carpool with. And I honestly have no idea how I will fit two kids, plus a week's worth of groceries in our little Echo! I'm hoping, if our situation changes, we can either trade in for a used van, or get an additional vehicle or something. I'm just going to have to be very organized, and work hard.

The first thing that comes to mind about living here, which doesn't apply to all Canada of course, is the mountains. I had lived in the Western US before moving here, and been through Denver. But the US Rockies just do not compare to the Canadian Rockies. They are unbelievably beautiful...like something out of The Lord of the Rings. We've been able to go camping in them, and visit some of the national parks and the beauty is stunning.

Ahhh, such a cute family <3

Does your daughter know both English and French(I know, I know, such a Canadian stereotype thing lol)? What type of doctor does your DH want to be?

We live in Western Canada, so not a lot of French speaking out here (though they do have immersion schools). I love foreign languages, and am usually good at learning them, but for whatever reason, French and I just can't get it together. I cannot nail the pronunciation of French words. DH knows a little, because he took it in school and a little in University. But DD doesn't know any. She knows a tiny bit of ASL (we did baby signing, and I took ASL in high school). But other than that, just English.

DH is leaning towards family practice, but is open to anything. He knows that once he actually gets exposed to the various areas, he may fall in love with something. I think he'd be a good pediatrician or emergency medicine doctor, but he isn't sure. He's especially not keen on the idea of working with sick children all the time because he thinks he'd get too depressed seeing so many ill and unhappy little ones.

Just wanted to say hi because I live in Red Deer. So close, yet so far away...(we rarely get to Calgary). We moved here from Manitoba to enjoy the mountains, but haven't been a lot since having DD two years ago. Good luck with med school, etc. I know how you feel about waiting, worrying, etc as we are going to put our house on the market soon (to move back to MB), and we have never sold a house before, and I'm really hoping that it sells, but also that they are willing to have a closing date AFTER this baby is born! And I love your pics!! You all look so happy.

It's YA Fantasy that begins with the main character's brother being murdered (but she doesn't find out it was murder until much later).

I know my questions aren't very original but... Do you have a theme for baby's space? What's your favorite color? Is your daughter excited to be a big sister?

He won't have his own space for a while. But if he gets his own room later I'm thinking either a map theme, or Canadian wilds theme. Either way, the colors will be tangerine and aqua.

I don't have a favorite color anymore because I just can't settle on one. I LOVE color. Except red. I've never liked red. It is just too angry a color for me.

DD seems to be getting more excited the closer we get. She's said some pretty sweet things lately about "Bip." I'm glad she's old enough that we can talk to her about how much work a baby is, but that we love her and nobody but her can fill her spot in our hearts. I read Siblings Wthout Rivalry recently, it was fantastic. So I'm going to do my best to make sure she doesn't feel pushed aside by Theo.
