That is what a mom told me today. How i was being stupid and selfish to allow my unvaccinated children around others, and that i'll be sorry one day when they get diptheria or polio or measles....smh...i was also told i was responsible for bringing back diseases that maimed and killed because of my uneducated garbage. How it was criminal what i'm doing, and i should be thrown in jail.

Sponsored Linkspost #2 of 162/5/13 at 5:39amI think criticism hurts the worst from mom. I'm sorry she said all those things to you. I think you are a caring mother, who is doing what you believe is best for your children. I hope takes away some of the sting.
I don't know your reasons for not vaccinating, but maybe some day there will be better information that will cause a change in attitudes on this subject. I wish you and your family good health.
Edited to add -- I don't mean to imply that your attitudes will be the ones changing. When I reread what I had written, I saw that I wasn't at all clear that I meant mainstream and medical attitudes. Sorry if you already read it and got the wrong message!

Wow. Where was this, a playgroup or something? How did it come up that you don't vax? I'm really sorry someone attacked you verbally like this. I know if it was me I'd be so flabbergasted that I wouldn't be able to retort with any thing, and then would kick myself later for it.post #4 of 162/5/13 at 6:21am- fruitfulmomma

Which vaxxes? All of them? U.S schedule? Canadian? Japanese? Rabies? Smallpox?
DPT was probably more effective than DTaP, should we bring it back?
Has her child's titers been checked to confirm *actual* immunity has been conferred? (Eta: She must know they aren't 100% effective or she wouldn't be concerned that her child could still catch something. Is she concerned that her child could still spread something?)
If her child is found responsible for spreading pertussis when she let him out in public with "just a little cough", should she go to jail?
And aren't we letting *actual* criminals out of jails which are overcrowded and underfunded?

)Comments such as this suggest she is caught up in some serious pro-vax propaganda, has a lot of fear and self-righteousness and very little understanding of vaccines and VADs.

I HATE hearing stuff like this. Grrr. I'm sorry this happened to you. What a b*&^tch. I would never say something like this to someone. Doesn't matter how this came up in conversation.

What a nutjob. I wonder how much actual research she did on the subject. I'm thinking none.
When sheeple...I mean people say that non vaccinated children are responsible for bringing back diseases which are affecting FULLY vaccinated kids, I just want to bang my head against a wall. Also, there are millions of us over 45 who have not have most of the vaccinations of today, and we're not dropping like flies from these illnesses, nor are we even concerned about them.
Honestly, you just have to laugh at the ignorance.

Wow, it is just amazing how rude people can be. Whenever such things happen, the mind goes totally blank. There are so many bugs out there that are not vaccine preventable some are not even treatable but Diphtheria is a big concern for that Momma, huh? TB is back on the rise too, but BCG-vaccine does not really do the job either. OMG what are we going to do now!
Sorry, you had this encounter. Try to brush it off and just let it go. It is futile to argue with her anyway. This is your life and you are in charge of it and nobody else.
post #10 of 162/5/13 at 6:26pmI work in a drugstore, and today I was helping a woman with a 2 month old; she mentioned they were on their way for baby's 1st vaxxes, and she was buying Advil because someone told her to give the baby Advil before vaccinations. Now, did I scream and yell at this woman and tell her how foolish and irresponsible she was being for vaxxing her baby? Of course not. I NEVER would. But I'm always amazed at how people treat one another, and think it's their right to criticize others for their choices. So sad.post #11 of 162/5/13 at 9:01pm- JulieWojo

Wow!
I know how you feel. I have an old facebook friend who recently posted randomly that she doesnt understand how some parents can be so stupid and risk their children by not vaccinating them. I am not the type that can sit back and let people judge without doing research. So I spoke up and asked her how much research she has actually done on the subject. Of course the answer was zero. She just blindly trusts what the doctor tells her. She is always posting about her baby having ear infections and other issues. She has had many many miscarriages. Both of these issues I have read can be because of damage vaccines do the immune system. I question and research EVERYTHING before I let anyone touch me, my husband or my children. I don't understand how anyone wouldn't.
So good for you! Don't let anyone make you feel bad for doing research and making an INFORMED decision.
I have noticed over the last ten years or so, the outcry against nonvaxing families is getting louder and louder...it used to be, no one cared..now it's as if it's everyone's business, and parents think nothing of shaming other parents for their reasonable choices or choices that benefit their family, healthwise..... At the same time, they are sticking their fingers in their ears when they hear the word 'research', and defect the convo by saying how they worship the almighty white coat, because what he says is true. which is an abdication of parental responsibility, imo.
post #13 of 162/6/13 at 11:49amLook back at history. How many times has a group of people been unfairly blamed for things out of fear and ignorance? How many times has that group of people then been stripped of their rights, to attend school, to work at certain jobs, etc? And finally, how many times has a significant number of people jumped on the bandwagon and vilified, or even harmed an innocent group of people because the prevailing propaganda taught them to do so?
We are doomed to repeat history, because apparently, we haven't learned from it.
And sadly, your experience proves this.
I'm so sorry you had to go through it. I hope it never happens again--but I am very worried that it will just get worse.

It's rediculous what some people will say and they refuse to hear otherwise. Pretty sure everyone on here has looked at both sides of the story - to vax or not to vax. Yet those severely pro-vaxxed have more than likely NEVER read anything, or of they have certainly nothing about non-vaxxing or the dangers of vaxxing. Accross the board people are just throwing away every freedom they have and giving it to the government - I'm not ok with that!
Emmy526, have you ever seen the food documentary Farmageddon? Obv not about vaccines but there's a quote on there that comes directly from a court document involving the FDA (the case was about sales of raw milk) and it states that 1.) there is no absolute right to consume or feed children any particular food and 2.) there is no generalized right to bodily and physical health. That made my jaw drop. So according to the FDA we have no 'right' to be healthy anyways!?

no i havent seen it..i'll be sure to check it out...and, arguing with sheeple, is not for me.... i mite as well stand there in accord with them and say 'Baaaa Baaaaa, drs know all and vaccines are safe for everyone' . They'd hear that! But, i cannot lower myself...i tried showing her some facts, and was told they were lies! I showed her sites her own drs uses, and was told they are bogus anti vax propaganda...that is an example of how blind someone chooses to be... i cannot debate or argue with someone who is that closed minded-it's truly a waste of my time.
post #16 of 162/7/13 at 10:09amThese types of arguments make me glad that even though I have done substantial research, I still state religion as my main reason not to vax. I'm sure there are tons of people who would love to still argue with me on it... But at least that minimizes it to douchebags and evangelical Christians.Return HomeBack to Forum: I'm Not Vaccinating- I Should be Thrown in Jail for Not Vaccinating
