5'1 tried many, many carriers

Thread Starter

I'm 5'1 and petite.  I've tried maany carriers and the one that worked the best, hands-down, head and shoulders above the rest was the Beco Gemini.  Ergo did not work.  Yet, I began using carriers at 4 mos. not 1 yr so maybe ergo?

Go to your local retailer that carries them and try them on before you buy?

Good luck!

I'm 4'10, and I second the Beco Gemini!!  I got mine when DS was about 3 mos and it fit perfectly.

Anyone short&petite try &like Boba3g? I am worried about BecoGemini due to synthetic materials...

I'm five feet even and I love my Peanut Shells.  I also felt really comfortable in my ring sling.  I will definitely look up the Beco Gemini, too, for this next one!

I am 5'2" and I loved the Baby K'tan for both my children.  It was super easy to use and store, the kids loved it and it comes in organic cotton.

I'm also 5' even and can't wear my Ergo for very long without one leg getting numb. I love my Maya ring sling though!

I would also love to know if anyone has had luck with a Boba...

I'm 5'2", my dh is 6', and we both love our Baby Hawk.  It took us from ~3 months to ~3 years.  I also used my wraps a lot for the first year.

Just curious if you have short or long torso, or anyone one whos tried Ergo. I am developing my own theory that torso length is key in ergo vs boba for us shorties.

I have an unbelievably short torso! Funny you should say that, because that is exactly what I was thinking. Kelty backpack carriers are too big as well. Even with the straps as tight as they go I could still fit 2 pillows under the shoulder straps...lol.

Any other shorties have ideas for backpack hiking carriers? I need suggestions because hiking season is quickly approaching joy.gif

Im 5'0 and I love my ergo or woven wrap

I'm 5'2" and have a really short torso.  I have an Angel Pack, which is a soft structured carrier, that fits me well... my dh can use it too after adjusting the straps.  We still prefer the Baby Hawk though.

I'm 5'2 and I'm using a lightweight SSC the Action Baby carrier though I have seen in their site that it can also be worn by kids and dads.

I tried and hated the Beco Butterfly. Either my torso was too short (5'2"), my breasts too big (34DD), or my baby too chunky (90th in weight, 60th in height) or all of the above. My husband could never get a comfortable fit either (5'6").

i really liked the Tiny Birds wrap, parents of Inventions wrap, the HUGS selendang (best for hot weather), and the Hoppediz Bondolino (SSC/Mei tai). The only drawback with all except the selendang was the hot factor. Too hot to wear in summer. I wish I had tried the BabyHawk.
