When I was on my chiro's undulating massage table yesterday, it was giving me Braxton hicks! I'm thinking I should probably ask him to turn down the intensity next time, but I really like it greensad.gif

A hawk just killed one of my chickens and my laundry room sink overflowed! :/

Oh, no, Banana! I'm sorry about your chicken. :-( And, to a lesser degree, about your laundry... Hope your day gets better soon!

I am SO sorry!! Last spring I watched one carry off my best rooster.  I was furious!  I would bring you a glass of wine if I could.  hug2.gif

Oh, and I'm SO glad I'm not the only one!  I've got to get to my chiro soon.oops.gif

Thanks Jacksonmom, I'm sorry about your rooster.

I can't get her poor little face out of my head. And what a waste of meat too! That's the worst part! The hawks we get aren't big enough to carry the chickens off, and usually they don't really try very hard to get the girls. Though this was the biggest I've seen, I still think it was wintertime desperation. But it just ate part of her. So now we are down a layer, and can't even make soup for the loss!

And it was sitting there, smug as you please in a tree, in the neighbor's yard, probably waiting to come back and finish! If it had been in mine, I would have gotten my husbands air rifle... I doubt I could have hit it, but I sure would have liked to scare it, what if it comes back? >:|

I'm sorry about your chicken Banana! I really want chickens, but the hawks are huge and aggressive around here. So DH says no. We get our eggs from the neighbors who have 30 chickens in a a fancy ass covered coop and yard.

Askew, do you have a dog who might be a good chicken guardian? We keep our big dog out with the chickens and he deters a lot of predators! Just a thought. :-) Because I love having chickens.

As for me- I'm on day 16 of waiting for my MaterniT21 test results. I am SO sick of the waiting. I feel so emotionally vulnerable right now, like anything could set me off, and the constant questions/texts/emails about whether I have the results yet from well-meaning friends and family are about to drive me nuts. Thanks for letting me vent here.

Bean- that sounds so frustrating! I'm sorry. You had to wait two weeks for the initial results and two weeks beyond when the bloodwork was messed up? Or should it have been ready by now?

I will definitely have a good farmpup when we actually live in a rural area (in the burbs now). We want other animals too, so it will come in handy. Of course the challenge will be finding a dog with a bit of herding in her blood that my allergic daughter can tolerate...

Banana, exactly! I waited a week and a half the first time, and then I've waited for over two weeks after the redraw. If I had it to do over, I would have just done the CVS. I would have known a month ago.

coffebean, can you call Sequenom directly and inquire (or maybe call your provider first -- maybe they are sitting on the results?)? That is just beyond what it is supposed to take!! Sorry about the intrusive questions! I remember getting a text around (though before) my due date from someone whose number was not in my phone so I didn't know who, saying, "baby yet?" I found it really annoying! Hope you get some information soon!

My provider was sitting on the results!!!  Coffeebean call your provider and ask.  I found out on day 9 (business days) because I called my midwife's office.  Funny thing thoug-- someone just called me the other day (would have been day 11) to go over my results- not knowing I had already gotten them.  So they had them for days before they actually were planning on calling me.  Ugh- makes me want to switch offices....

Me at night. I have to prop the comforter under one side. On my side I need it under my belly.

Porcelina, it TOTALLY feels like that time around your due date when everyone is texting/asking questions and each time you get a little more anxious. I shouldn't have told people we were getting this done because it's really the constant questions driving me batty.

This.  yeahthat.gif  We haven't lost another bird to hawks since we got our Great Pyr.  But, in your case, I've read that stringing fishing string over the birds' run will deter hawks.  Something about messing with their depth perception.  Can't hurt to try, right?

I guess I don't remember it happening this early.  I keep having dreams that I'm passing out, and when I wake up I'm lying on my back and feeling yucky.  boo.

I can't help but pray that it's not because I'm growing another 10 + baby.  ROTFLMAO.gif

I have a big Golden Retriever who lives in the yard. But he's not very scary. Our lot is part of a 30 acre apple orchard, so rodents are also a big issue. Do the chickens attract rats like DH thinks?

The food and eggs may, But If you get/build a secure coop, they cant get in. you'll need to store food securely (like in tubs, or bins). Bonus, if the chickens see a rat, they'll try to kill it and eat it!

No barn cats?
