HB-friendly Pediatrician in or near Howard County

Hi mothers,

I am planning on a HB in HoCo and am looking for pediatrician recommendations who are willing to see a HB infant. I have called some offices in the county (Dr. Wollney's specifically) and have been told that they do not accept HB patients! (which I think is a shame.). Indignation aside, I need to take my baby to see a physician soon after birth for both the NBS screening and also to get a signoff for the Birth Certificate process for registering a home birth.

If anyone has experience with this process of having a HB and then finding an accommodating physician, please share! Whether it was planned or you happened to call the office the day of your birth to schedule an appt. I am sure there are many ways to get around this.

Thanks!

Our ped always insisted on seeing babies within 48-72 hours post birth, he didn't know of our HB plans with our last, but did all the screenings we wanted.

Dr. Melvin Stern in Highland.

I think if you're having a hard time finding a Dr. to even see you as HB mama, you may want to look into other options for establishing live birth. But, I can't imagine you being turned away from a Ped at the scheduled appointment if they were to find out you HB. Or am I naive? If you want to come into Baltimore Dr. Morgan-Cooper seems to take a lot of HB clients and was quite comfortable and knowledgable about HB.
