I have been trying to set a parental control program in my computer, I tried Goggle parental controls but since my kids use my laptop and they have their own account (no passwords so I can see what they do), my daugther opens her gmail and my parental control sets are useless. They like to watch anime programs but I notice a lot of nudity and soft porn.. Help! I am not very tech oriented (obviously) and I dont want my kids to watch all that junk. Ideas?

post #2 of 42/12/13 at 2:03amI think you need to talk to them about the things that can happen, sometimes they're not aware of what else is on a site or how vulnerable they can be. It's very easy to get into something online, for example, inappropriate chats or harmless fun that can turn into internet bullying.
Or you could even try something like this http://www.refog.com/ which records websites etc that they visit. Talk to them about what you're doing so they know it's there, I imagine that's enough on it's own. From talking to other parents of teens, often it's the knowledge that their parents could see what they're doing that makes them think about how they behave online.

post #4 of 42/14/13 at 7:12pmYour best bet is Qustodio. Its free and still a complete parental control application. I've myself been using it for some time and am impressed by its capabilities. Not only does it allow me to block sites but also pull out detailed reports about the time my kids spend on the web. I can also watch the profile pictures of people she interacts with on Facebook and that is a huge reassurance that she is among friends. Try it. Its here www.qustodio.com
