Greys Anatomy / Meredith's pregnancy thread

All right, it's been mentioned that if Meredith were in a DDC, it would likely be ours. Does anyone want to chat about her pregnancy- the good, the bad, inconsistent? (What was up with last week's episode where she could feel the baby moving from the outside?)

Yeah, I think that is a case of time moving faster on the show than it could in real life!! Seriously, kindof impossible! I just felt my first for sure movement from the inside last night at 14.5 weeks, and I know that is pretty early!

Yeah, the show probably did just speed up her pregnancy so she could have the baby in time for the finale. At the beginning, though, it so closely mirrored my pregnancy! The first ultrasound, the end of 1st trimester, and the starting to tell people all happened at the same time for me. :-)

Porcelina, congrats on feeling kicks! It's exciting to think that those kicks will only intensify from here!

TV births infuriate me. I'm sure it will be some catastrophic emergency, where despite the dangers and horrors of the birth, she will look as though she just stepped out of a salon. And if her baby lives, it will be a miracle only achieved by her wise and heroic doctor co-workers.

:/

Seriously. I can't imagine it any other way. But I still watch for some reason!!

You know if we weren't pregnant, we could make an exellent drinking game out of TV series birth episodes! wink1.gif

Seriously! That's how it went for Callie and Arizona's baby, right?! But wouldn't it be awesome if she suddenly wanted a peaceful home birth or something? Yeah, fat chance, I know!

Ha! Y'all are hilarious. I think the same thing about TV births, but ESPECIALLY on Grey's. Every woman on there seems to need constant ultrasounds administered by obstetric surgeons? What?

In general, I laugh at how for being doctors and healthy enough to always be getting it on in the on-call room, they sure need a lot of surgery! LOL!

Just watched this week's Grey's- and it looks like next Thursday is Meredith's anatomy scan. So she's definitely in our due date club! :-) I'm guessing boy for her, so they'll have one of each. Why am I so overly excited about her pregnancy??

Spoiler alert.

You were right coffee. Lol

Haha. But why is she 28 weeks and just now getting an anatomy ultrasound? Seriously. Doesn't she work in a hospital?

Especially that hospital where they have surgeons running ultrasounds on people who have ever breathed the same air as a pregnant woman!

Funny, my husband and I thought the same thing when we watched it. I dread the labor. Does any woman have a non-surgical birth on that show? Sure, sure, it's a show about surgeons but still.

No joke! What's the scariest thing that they can imagine for a birth scenario? Maybe a placental abruption or cord prolapse? My money is on one of those things, then an emergency c-section with postpartum hemorrhage afterward.

Well, duh! Birth is a horrible and dangerous risk. Everyone knows if you don't have a team of surgeons hovering over you, you'll probably die.

So funny you said that! DH's wacky aunt's late husband was a heart surgeon and she was going on and on to me during my first pregnancy about how lucky she was to have a *team* of surgeons monitoring her pregnancy "around the clock." And I was like...in case you needed heart surgery? I was very confused by the comfort she had in this "team."

lol I'll never understand that mentality.
