House of Peace has a baby BOY!!! « Back to Group Discussions

At 10:14am, my little boy FINALLY came out.

He's 8lbs 5oz, 21 inches long, solid.

labor was LONG- midwife came at 10:30 pm last night, and labored all night long, tried pushing at 2am, no progression.  then extended labor that was very painful, water broke and had meconium, which stressed me out.  contrax were very very intense and kept getting more intense.  finally got baby in a better position so that labor wasn't as painful, took a hot shower and then soaked in tub and my wonderful hubby pulled me together (i was so drained, i just wanted to stop hurting) and said 'you can do this one pushing a baby out thing.  we've done it before when you were more tired and more hurt.' and i did.  baby spent NO time in birth canal, when finally he engaged.  it just was really hard to engage his head.  then he came out in 10 minutes.  

he was really slow to engage- and has bruises on his eyes and lips, so probably had a hand up in his face.  he has a good sized head too!!!  

no tearing, already nursing great. midwife left and i'm off to bed!!! Afterpains already kicking in.....

Yay congrats!  SO glad he waited until after the storm and your midwife could come!  Praise God for a healthy baby!

Oh good job!  you rock!  I had a long pushing phase with DD1 - almost 6 hours - and finally got her out with a little vacuum assist.  She was asynclitic.  It was HARD but I got such a feeling of accomplishment from it and really have positive memories of the birth.  I'm so impressed you made it through 8 hours in 2nd stage and still had the strength to push him out.  So amazing.

oh my!  yeah, the 8 hours was the hardest part.  i had quit and checked out mentally and was just trying to sleep through as much of this ordeal as possible... my knees are bruised from getting on them to rock through so many contractions out of deep sleep.....  i'm sure i will remember this better in a little while- it is fresh and hard.  

he got my nose!!!  he wouldn't stop moving for a clean pic (5 min post birth).  he's really strong and pushed up off my chest right after birth and has been gazing into my eyes.  i think he's the most amazing thing ever!!!  so in love!

thanks mamas!  praying for you all too as i go to rest and enjoy this new thing.
