That's a good idea!  

Also, I didn't do any professional photos of DD1 until she was 3.  But that didn't stop me from taking them of DD2 at nb, 3 mo, 6mo, 9 mo, 1 yr, 2 yrs, etc...  In my experience, the second and subsequent children give mom a hard time for not having as many pictures and momentos of them as she does of #1. (realistically, there will be less photos/momentos/etc of second (etc) child(ren) because they are sharing the stage with another sibling and lots of photos are shared and not individual.) So, having a birth announcement would prob make #2 feel better about that!

Yeah, we have pictures of my daughter every month-day from birth to age 1. Of course, they're all currently digital and therefore she doesn't see them very often. I was going to make a book for her with pictures of her first year and all of my journal entries from her first year, kind of so she can see what babies are like their first year and partly so she doesn't feel left out or anything. :)

Oh sigh, you have just reminded me that I never got around to the project of printing all of DS's digital photos.... my plan was to do that before the baby was born..... clearly NOT happening now!!

Glad you like the announcement idea.  A friend of mine sent out a beautiful one with her son (2) shirtless, holding her newborn.  I guess it probably sounds a little weird when I describe it (!), but she printed in b&w and it just looked so precious.

We did ours with Tiny Prints. I love the amount of customization you are allowed. You pick a template from the birth announcements page: http://www.tinyprints.com/baby-photo-birth-announcements.htm and just plug in your own pictures and text and they come out great. We had ours made as magnets so that our relatives would have a little keepsake too.
