You won't need to try any secret recipes to bring on labor. Have your emergency numbers ready. Don't wait until the last minute to get your nursery ready. We predict your baby will come 1-2 weeks early. Your baby will most likely be born in the morning. Justmommies predicts that your baby will weigh approximately 7.0 pounds and that your labor will be about 9 hours long.

I sure hope so... :)

My MW delivered my birth tub to me tonight. EEK!

*giggles at spughy* I like the image of pointing at the picture series... XD

spughy - Hah! I get that. When I was in labor with DS a woman came in about 5 hours after I did (I was in a birth center) and had her baby about 30 minutes after mine. I was there for about 7 hours total & she was there for maybe 2. It ticked me off that her labor & birth was so easy (it was also her 3rd). I guess I should be glad that she didn't deliver before me or else I'd have been really pissed.

I follow some DDCs on FB and the babies are coming on there. Things are moving & it's crazy because some had EDD's after mine. Eek! Nothing much happening here other than feeling really crampy today. I should probably drink some water and just take it easy. But, I'm off to my shower in about an hour & then tonight DH & I have to go to a work function for him. At least we have an viable "out" if I'm over it.

So many things to talk about. I don't know where to start.First thing is I am so emotional! I am not normally. For starters My hubby did absolutely nothing for me for Valentines Day. He didn't even say happy Valentines day or even "thank you" when I gave him a card and candy. I always feel so lonely toward the end of my pregnancy. Sorta like baby blues before and this didn't help. I also am trying to keep myself busy by cleaning and reorganizing and my hubby comes home and gets all aggravated with me for moving things around without talking to him first.  Then he says he is getting stressed because he is close to the end of his semester(he is taking night classes). He asked me not to take things personal. Ummm....I am pregnant and hormonal...yeah, O.k.?! Also I just found out the o.b. I switched to is taking a vacation from march 9-25th. I had a c-section scheduled for the 25th. Now I have to wait two more days or if not have some random person deliver me, and if I go into labor I will also have to have some random doc deliver me. Oh, and to top it all off the sweet baby is measuring three weeks ahead of schedule, In which case I would be due during her vacation. I am fine if she comes sooner I just don't know who I would get for a doc and I like to know my doctor ya know? Just having a really tough week. Oh and I also have to completely start a new curriculum with my second grader because she is not doing well with her reading one we are using and I had her evaluated and that was the outcome.......

ClumsySugarPlum, I'm glad the baby turned out to be great! Enjoy those baths. smile.gif

Maydaymom, I hope the baby shower was just as much fun as you were thinking it would be. I'm excited to hang out with all of my friends next weekend, but I'm not sure how the house is going to get ready, since the shower's being held here... Eep!

Rachelalle, is there any way you can meet with the other doctor you might end up with before hand? I can totally understand wanting to not be with a stranger for delivery.

I had a busy day today. A friend and I decided to swap organizing hours, so I went over to her house today to help her declutter and organize for several hours. It's always easier to do with someone else's stuff, and it felt so productive! She's coming over in a couple of weeks to help me, so then I just have to figure out which part of my life I want to work on. smile.gif I also managed to stop by Jo-Ann's and get some on-sale flannel to make baby wipes with, and a couple of large jars to help with kitchen organization... And then I took some books to the used bookstore that I love, and with one bag of books I got $34 in store credit! Woot! Feed my reading habit!! orngbiggrin.gif Gotta take the other bag to the other bookstore, and see if they want any of them...

It doesn't even sound like that much, but I'm BEAT. I feel twice as pregnant as I did last week.

Oh, man, chocolatechip, you just reminded me of the biggest reason I had for cleaning my house--the shower/party is supposed to be here. Crap. XD

LOL, we can keep each other motivated this week to clean! smile.gif  (I think the dust bunnies in my house have grown into dust jackrabbits...)

Feeling twice as pregnant as last week lol--i can certainly relate, chocolatechip. I joked to DH today that my feet have a timer on them--the timer starts when we step out the door and it goes off after about 45 minutes (we do a lot of shopping on foot) which means if i'm not almost home then i am going to be in a good amount of pain. The darn timer keeps setting itself back more and more--i swear a few weeks ago it was set to a little over an hour. *sigh* this too shall pass...

Hello!

We had our last hypno birthing refresher today over in Seattle and it was raining when we went over the pass this morning. We took the kids up to my parents house so they could see Grandma and Grandpa for the day. We didn't even think about the possibility of snow in the pass on the way home, it was 40 degrees when we went over the top. We met my parents for dinner down near the UW after the class and I talked Pete into wandering around the UW bookstore, which I haven't done in a few years. I found a great science project book for my son that we could play with this summer and finally replaced my broken "alumni" license plate ring. I know, I'm a dork. Then we stopped a few more times for potty breaks, not even thinking about the pass. Low and behold, we start going over the mountain and the signs say "chains required on all vehicles except all wheel drive." That's bad. And, to make matters worse, on the weekends when that hits, it's a lot more unprepared drivers. I've usually done this drive on weeknights and it tends to be mostly commuters which is typically drivers prepared for the conditions. So, we're creeping up the hill and small car after small car is off the road, stuck. We made it over the pass fine, the glories of taking your time and snow tires, but it was a long drive. I've done it tons of times in the past, but it's always 10 times scarier when you have the entire family in the car. Glad to be home. Poor Pete went straight to bed. I had to take a bath because my feet were so swollen. It's gone down some. I also think that the decaf I picked up to make sure I stayed awake while Pete drove was not decaf.... grrrr....

Oh, Melany, that sounds like a rough evening!  And nothing sucks more than decaf that isn't.

sunshinelove - I know what you mean about feeling twice as pregnant this week.  Blergh.  Another hemorrhoid snuck up on me.  Little buggers.  Fortunately it's a slow weekend chez us so I was able to spend the day mostly off my feet.  We all chipped in to tidy up the living room and DH gave it a good vacuum.  I did some laundry but mostly watched TV or read all day - DH puttered, fixing up DD's bike etc, and DD played with a friend all afternoon.  So despite my aching butt, it wasn't a bad day.  Tomorrow we are supposed to go to a potluck lunch but if my bum still hurts I'm gonna bail.

Next week I get to meet with the backup midwife.  My doula really likes her so I expect I will get along with her just fine.

I think my baby grew suddenly.  I have been less than great at monitoring my starch and sugar intake and I fear the little critter is growing too much again.  Despite the extra starch being good for my poops, I'm going to cut it out again.  I think I'd rather be a little bunged up now than pushing out a 10 lb baby in a few weeks.

rachelalle - so sorry you're having a rough patch. I agree with chocolatechip about maybe trying to meet the backup doc. I could help put your mind at ease. I hope you day is going a little better today.

My shower was a lot of fun. It mostly women that I used to teach with, but also some friends from the rowing club that I used to race with (hopefully will get back into that later this summer) and my doula. We had a lot of fun & this baby girl got spoiled. I just need to pick up some "me" things now and I think we'll be set for her arrival. I just feel blessed. It was funny because it was the first time most of them had heard that I was planning a homebirth and they were all a little shocked. One of my friend's daughter is a NP who works for a local OB/GYN. She was surprised to hear about the protocols of homebirth and what my midwife will show up with -- monitoring and such. It's just such a different perspective than what her daughter works with. I had to laugh when she mentioned how busy the practice was & how they had short appointments and saw several women over the course of a day. I commented that they would hate me as each of my appointment with my midwife lasts about an hour. She looked at me like I was crazy. She was nonjudgemental, so it was a neat conversation. I feel like I can relax and wait for this LO to get here now.

As for cleaning -- I hear you! I actually had a mad cleaning spree this past week because I had visits from both my doula & midwife. I just wanted to make sure things looked acceptable for a birthing environment. I'm going to do my best to keep on top of it, at least until the baby gets here. There is something really nice about a clean house.

Well, I can tell that the end is approaching. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow & the pubic pain has set in. I can no longer straddle my legs without intense pain -- nearly killed myself trying to get out of DH's car last night. I'm trying to be a good girl and keep my legs together to help ease the discomfort. lol.gif My pelvis was really sore after the shower because I was on my feet so much. I've also had alot of period-like cramping for the past few days. Nothing with any pattern, just uncomfortable. I do remember this with DS, but not until the very end -- like a few days before. But, I really don't think anything is going to happen for a few more weeks. So, I'm just going to try to rest, hydrate, and keep myself as comfortable as possible.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I can't wait to start reading about some babies on here!! I need some good birth stories to help get me ready!

maydaymom So glad you had a great shower! I hear you on the pelvic pain, hope its not too bad while you wait for your LO to come!

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow as well. The last three days have been almost nonstop prodromal labor. It varies from minor to moderate pain with contractions, which sometimes get as close as 3 mins and sometimes space out quite a bit more. I am EXHAUSTED as a result! Wow, I hope this doesn't go on for weeks.

My dad and stepmom were in town this weekend, so DD had a blast playing with them. They live in NC so shes only seen then a few times in her life, but she warmed up to them right away this visit. I have to say, it was tough for me to just sit and entertain them though. I probably should've left them with DD and taken some naps! But oh well. It was really great to see them.

I was in bed at 6:30 last night just completely wiped out. I was up twice in the middle of the night with closer contractions that peaked for a couple hours and then slowed. I never had any labor signs at all until the real thing with DD. This has been happening for days as well. I'm just trying to stay patient when really I just want to be DONE.

Spughy- I have to monitor my sugers as well and they have been fine but I have felt like she has had a big spurt in the last two weeks as well. I think it is normal to get backed up at this point. I did with all my other pregnancy's. What really helps me is making sure I drink a greens drink. They sell diff kinds at health food stores and is very low carb for our sugars but has so many greens in one powdered scoop it is pretty good at keeping you regular. hope that helps :)

maydaymom-I am happy you had a good shower. Mine is next weekend and I can't wait :)

I am deff. with the rest of you in trying to keep the house neat in preparation.  The way I figure its a great way to clean all the stuff we never did in the first few months cuz we were not feeling good. I joked in the beginning to my hubby and I would say I was saving xyz  for my nesting faze so I would have something to do LOL

Also my last post was so helpful for me. To just vent. I feel so much better today :)

sunshinelove, my feet don't seem to be worse than any of the rest of me, but I definitely relate to having a timer! After a certain point, my whole body is just done supporting itself, and that point keeps creeping earlier. I've even noticed it for sitting up. Unless I have the perfect well-supported sitting-up environment, after a while, I just want to lie down. And I'm still only at 34 weeks!

melany, I'm glad you all made it safely over the pass, even though it doesn't sound like any fun at all.

spughy, I've also felt like I've had a growth spurt again, though more baby than me (my belly suddenly seems much more crowded). But at my last appointment my midwife said I was "due" for another growth spurt, so I guess it's all good. I feel like the baby must be 20 lbs already, but I don't really have any idea!

maydaymom, it sounds like you had a great conversation with your friend. I feel like most people who haven't considered home birth picture it as taking place in a barn with a midwife who has no equipment and just holds your head and soothes you. I think it's important for people to understand that they have a choice, and know what those choices actually entail, so that they can really make the best decision for themselves!

veganyogamama, I hope you either get a break from your contractions, or they start progressing things so that you DO actually "just get to be done." smile.gif

I've been going to my prenatal yoga class once a week, and this morning I am adding in a second class for the week. Very excited, and hoping it will help me loosen up some of the random aches and pains!

My hips are finally sore.  Not too bad (especially compared to my other pregnant friend who's in agony), but last night was pretty bad.  I went for a massage on Friday which felt heavenly!

I've been busy this weekend.  DP's working, and while we asked DSS's mom if she wanted some extra time with her DS, she declined and he's been a little under foot all weekend.  I'm a little resentful because I FINALLY have some energy back, and want to accomplish a bunch of stuff, and don't want to be entertaining a 7 year old while I'm doing it.  I'm sure that sounds horrible, but I feel bad letting him watch so much TV just so I can sew.  And while he's being very good this weekend, I'm having a hard time getting him to clean his room.

Anyway, I sewed about 8 post-partum pads before my sewing machine and I started having issues.  And only 4 cloth wipes (but my mom called saying she had been sewing cloth wipes all day yesterday, so I'm no longer concerned about it.)  It's the most sewing I've done in a long time, despite wanting to get more done, I'm happy with my results, but sewing hurts my back at the best of times, and I'm wondering if that's not what killed my hips...

I've had no contractions (KNOCK ON WOOD) or anything like what a lot of you are describing.  Which is good.  I'm "planning" on making it to my due date, so being early isn't in my master "plan" - quite frankly, the very thought of being early freaks the heck out of me!!

It is good to read up on what's happening with people.

Vegan, Just reading your post about the contractions and sensations makes me excited. I am getting normal/strongish BH with some crampiness mixed in but nothing "progressive". Your situation sounds promising to me. I read somewhere that many times subsequent pregnancies have a higher incidence of prodromal labor. Maybe I am jinxing myself to a 42 week pregnancy because I want this baby to come early so badly.

I had to sit in a car for 4 hours on Friday and 4 hours last night. And guess what? Baby was LOT position while in the car. Now he is back to ROP, darn it, but I thought it was funny that he got into a better position while I was sitting in a "bad" position for so long.

I gave my graduating presentation (45 min) and it went REALLY well. I am so relived and happy. I am totally done. Phew. It feels great to have accomplished so much. Now on to waiting for baby and writing a book.
