I think I just had bloody show; I never had that with my other pregnancies. It was quite a large amount of pinkish mucus when I went to the bathroom and wiped. I had to use three different wads of toilet paper to get it all. I am slightly crampy and have had a few contractions during the past hour, but nothing crazy. Now I can't sleep and my left nostril is plugged up and won't drain. I did have my second round of acupuncture yesterday. I have never been this pregnant. DD2 arrived at 12:08 a.m. when I was just 41w3d, and it is now past 3 a.m. and I'm 41w3d (42w based on LMP). I really, really want to have this baby and was lying in bed thinking about taking castor oil in the morning, and then I had the bloody show. So now I don't know. I am just in so much pain. I have horrible pain in my upper abdomen, right under my boobs. It is like muscle/ligament/skin being stretched and pulled down so far that it feels like it is about to tear. This had been going on for weeks but has been even worse lately.

Oooh, I just had to stop typing to have what was by far the most painful contraction of this pregnancy. Please let this be the start of something. Please.

Nope. I'd already had HIM! Cale Benjamin was born at 7:57 a.m. We got to the hospital at 7:12. He is 9 pounds, 14 ounces and 21.5 inches long! No tearing, but I had a retained placenta and had to be put under. Then I hemorrhaged, and everyone was shocked that I didn't need a transfusion. Everything is good, though, and so far he is a great baby and is nursing well. Of course I didn't get the abx for GBS, but nobody seems too concerned.

Thanks, ladies. We are doing well. I am just glad I live in 2013 and not 100 years ago. I guess the placenta was still very much attached an hour after the birth when they went in and manually removed it. It was kind of crazy that I had a super fast, natural VBAC with zero interventions and then ended up having to be put under for a retained placena. Of course it would go that way! We are doing well, though, and are heading home tomorrow. They wanted to keep him for the full two days because I didn't get the GBS abx, but he is doing great.

Typebug, hugs to you. I was so sorry to read about the bind your midwife has left you in. I just can't imagine. I hope you find peace and have a beautiful birth VERY soon.
