kellybeth, you're doing everything right. I would also refuse an induction at that stage (if everything is looking healthy of course) and do the NST instead. I think I'm about as far along as you, or further maybe... 41 weeks 3 days today. And if if makes you feel better, my midwife isn't concerned. She and I won't even seriously consider induction methods until I'm over the 42 weeks mark. And then it's stuff like herbs and castor oil. So keep standing up for yourself. You are doing a great job growing a baby.

Kellybeth, hang in there - if nothing is wrong, don't let them induce you, you are NOT failing and your body can do this!!  and you need to decide what is right for you &DH - don't let them push you into an induction that is not medically necessary AND if induction is necessary, you don't have to be part of a study you aren't comfortable with, this is YOUR birth and your body, do what you are comfortable with.

Totally agree! I would refuse an induction too and do the stress tests. My midwife will also go to 43 weeks if baby and everything is ok. She said she hasn't had to do that very often though.

I had a good chiro apt yesterday (got my left side in place and feels soooo much better). I then had a lot of BH until 3am that kept me semi awake. A bit of nausea too. But then it all went away and I feel fine again. Sigh smile.gif

Kellybeth-

I know many mama's who tell me 'their body never goes into labor' - since i've had pretty consistently tardy babies, i know that feeling that your body doesn't know how.  even in labor, i think 'this is just going to end and the baby's never going to come out' but i've had 4 kids completely naturally w/out any interventions, and one induction.  and i can tell you, honestly, even if you go to 43 weeks- which my midwife says she never sees, but i did pass the 42 week mark by our best guesses w/ one kid (and you are guessing!!!  we all are- we don't know the day of implantation or any details like that, which the baby knows better) and still, she did come out.

so now i don't believe the 'never goes into labor' or 'my water never breaks on it's own' since i know personally that sometimes, if left to it's own devices, it will be much much later than medical professionals would ever think acceptable!

i also have carried the stigma of 'not being good at giving birth' b/c i don't do it fast, on time, or easily.  but i have strong healthy babies, so i'm curious to how true this is!  don't accept the blame, your body has done an amazing job thus far, you've done amazing, and you will do amazing.

Kellybeth ~ the other ladies have given you some great advice. Sending good and hurry up and go into labor vibes your way.

For those that have given birth ~ how sore are you? How are you healing? DD is now 10 days old. I stayed in bed for the first few days, did a little bit too much, landed myself back on bed rest for 3 days because I was bleeding too heavily. Yesterday I did get up and do a few things and my whole pelvic region is so sore.

I was starting to lose hope, and think I'm one of those people who's body just never goes into labour on it's own.. but after reading the last few posts I realize that is silly to think... especially after only ONE kid.

So I wanted to say THANKS to you guys for giving me a reality check -- it's so hard not to be swayed by everyone into getting the baby out, especially when they play the infant mortality card.

Cripes... and I still have 2 days before my actual due date! Why do doctors do that to us?? I was really feeling the pressure since I have a repeat c scheduled for 41wks, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to cancel it unless it's indicated for some other reason.

At my appointment this week my OB tried again to do a membrane sweep, but my cervix was still high and hard and closed. He couldn't even get a finger tip in. He said, "If I was blindfolded I would think you were a non pregnant sixteen year old based on the condition of your cervix." Um... gee.. thanks?  He's a pretty funny guy though and really nice other than the wish to get the baby out by 41 weeks (probably due in part to the 11lb u/s at 38 weeks).

I started EPO this week, so maybe that will help.

Well I don't mean to make all waiting mamas feel bad, but I'm contracting and it feels like this is it. They are still about 7 mins apart but are getting painful. So I have hope!

Wooo Jean! Let's go baby!

After consulting with my doctor about it today, I'm getting DH to buy me some castor oil and a couple bottles of Gatorade and coconut water on his way home from work tonight. Looks like tonight is gonna get messy, but hopefully it'll kick start some labour

Yay Jean!!!!! So excited for you!

I lost my MP a little bit ago, a very thick blob of tan jelly. I've also been having strong BHs since yesterday morning. Hopefully soon!

hurray!  sounds like progress for many!!!

Come babies come!

Kellybeth, hug2.gif. Remember, your doctor can't do anything that you don't consent to. On the other hand, if you want this baby out and feel at peace with an induction, that's understandable too. I hope something happens for you this weekend!

Teles, let us know how castor oil goes! I've heard lots of success stories.

BaMo- i was feeling GREAT up until yesterday.  then i cleaned the kitchen, swept the guest bedroom, made up the guest bed, carried around the 2 year old, and my bleeding jumped up like crazy and the pelvic pain became worrisome.  today pretty much put myself on bedrest (did made a roast chicken for dinner), and the bleeding really really eased up after noon.  took a hot bath and rested tonight and the pelvic pain is easing up.  also added back my arnica- i had also pretty much weaned off all my tinctures and natural remedies, and i think the internal bruising/swelling was worse than i realized.  i'm only on day 5!  so, still VERY SORE- actually worse than right after b/c the distracting pain of my bruised knees and muscle soreness from the gymnastics of labor have faded.

GO JEAN!!!thumbsup.gif

akemi- with my very overdue baby, i started just getting pissed b/c of the guilt trips from people.  i also have heard a lot of negative feedback for choosing homebirth.  and many other things.... i'm sure as a mother you've noticed that everyone thinks they know how to do your job better than you!  and that they can tell you... and that you should appreciate it.  your due date is totally not an expiration date!  but it is very very very hard to fight the system and the attitudes.  number five was my 'earliest' at only 3 days after my due date- but i set my own due date, it would be 41 weeks 3 days after my LMP date, which is what the medical realm would have used.

I am feeling really good. My core is a little sore but really not bad at all. My tailbone too but I really feel like super woman. I went to the zoo with the girls today and walked maybe 2 miles.... bleeding has picked up a bit but not sore at all. I am just about a week out now.

I have not taken anything for pain in 3 days. I think the belly binder is amazing!
