Random Q: How long can raw, unfrozen chicken be left out?

I had pregnancy brain today.  I went to Costco (I go about every 6 months) because they have packages of organic chicken breasts and whole organic chickens for cheap as well as organic coconut and olive oil.  When I got home, the little girl I was taking care of had fallen asleep so I brought her in and left the groceries in the car.  That was about 3.5-4 hours ago and I just realized it! So the chicken was never frozen and the temp outside is about 50 degrees.  I immediately threw it in our deep freezer but I just wanted to check with you all to see if you think it is safe to eat? What do you all think?

PS.  Costco also had organic Hanna Anderson PJ's for kids for about $12.

Hmmm....50 degrees sounds plenty cold enough to me. Then again, I live in the desert so maybe I'm not the one to ask.... smile.gif

I would consider it safe too especially since you have it frozen now and will fully cook it.  But I am not a food scientist and we tend to be more relaxed in our house about proper temp and leaving things out.

I would eat it.

I'd eat it.  It's been through worse in shipping and you're still going to cook it.  eat.gif
