How is everyone tonight?

We had to put our old 17 year old kitty down tonight. :-( We hadn't realized that he was going downhill so fast, but a vet visit confirmed that it was time. It's so sad to lose an animal member of your family, especially when your child is attached.

So sorry Coffeebean.  17 years is a long life!   Big hugs to your whole family.

I'm so sorry coffeebean. greensad.gif I had to put my cat down when my eldest was a baby. It was horrendous. I hope you are able to grieve.

I realized I haven't been on much or even thinking about pregnancy much in the last week or so. The positive side is the nausea has dramatically decreased. I'm working hard on eating enough but even when I don't, I'm not feeling as horrible. I'm feeling movement daily but not regularly. I think this is the part where it's easy to forget being pg because the symptoms are more subtle and of course they're so familiar. But not enough movement or size to be a big distraction yet. It's a little disconcerting, tho! Anyone else experience that? I must also be pretty distracted lately.

I'll be 16 weeks in Monday and that is suddenly sounding close to halfway! At some point I will have to actually start thinking about preparing for baby and birth. Anyone have thoughts on when you'll start doing what? And I best try taking vitamins and supplements again now that I'm not so sick!

Oh Coffeebean, this is so sad about your cat. I know how vital a family member a cat can be. I hope all of you have the time and space to grieve.

I'm 14 weeks on Monday; I swear I can feel something moving, Kinda like a little jelly fish of something.

I start my new job Monday! I'm excited and a bit nervous. Dr's due date is day after end of contract, 19 Aug, my estimated due date (based on ovulation predictor) is a week later 26 Aug (my bday). Should I finish contract, I get a 10% bonus. I was mothr's 1st and was 10 days late. What can I do to keep baby in to ensure $$$$?

We toured labor n delivery at dr's hospital today. I think having toured other one was good to help us with our expectations. In Sat morning traffic- ie none- is 10 min away. I'm totally ok w dr's hospital. Nurse couldn't give c section rate but estimated it at 15-20%. They have jacuzzis and intermittent monitoring. The neighborhood is a culinary wasteland, but I guess where I place importance will shift.

About to make this for lunch for us: http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2012/10/spaghetti-with-broccoli-cream-pesto/

Fish oil can help prevent preterm labor and vit C strengthens the amniotic sac to prevent premature rupture. Both good investments, especially when you need baby to stay put!

Interesting! I take it is the omega-3s in the fish oil? I'm gonna buy some flax seeds next time at the store!

Aw.  That is really tough esp. when your pregnant too. I had to put a very special rooster down with my first pregnancy and I was bawling, over a chicken.  lol  Seemed silly, but he was such a good boy.

Yeah, after worry and finally confirming everything was ok on Monday, I don't feel very pregnant, feeling movement too, but I feel so much better that I'm moving around and doing stuff like I was before the pregnancy.  I guess until my body gets heavier I might be able to really enjoy being pregnant at this time.

Just make sure its a whole foods vit. C.  The one on most shelves is ascorbic acid and will deplete your stores rather than fill them because in order for your body to use the vit. C it has to include all the components in that vitamin not just ascorbic acid. Looks like New Chapter makes one.

I presume it's the omegas in fish oil that make the difference but I don't know for sure. I know cultures that rely heavily on fish tend to gestate longer.

I take fish oil too, it can also help stabilize your mood as well. I am not sure how but it works for me. My midwives recommended it last pregnancy and it made a big difference for me.

Cardigan, most (70%) of first babies come after their due date.

Luckly my stomach flu was a 24 hour thing and I am feeling pretty normal.

My brother and his girlfriend come for a two week visit, which is the most time we have spent together since we both lived at home nine years ago. Wish me luck.

Sorry about your cat, Coffee!

Cardigan- I think we are much better at keeping babies in than willing them to come smile.gif

Leigh- good luck on your visit!

I am finally going to Florida the week after next, so I have to start packing. I'm a little stressed about this heart beat thing and telling vs not telling, but I try not to think about it. :/

I'm so sorry about your cat Coffee. It's the one bad thing about having pets in your family- you always outlive them. We lost our beloved dog two years ago in May and I still think about him every day.

I'm doing ok. I've had a low grade headache for almost a week now. I am assuming it is sinus related. Our trees are blooming and I have terrible allergies. I need to start up with my netti pot again.  I am feeling movement for sure now. (14weeks) but only maybe once a day for a few seconds here and there. I remember feeling it early with #2 as well. It's reassuring. I don't feel that pregnant. I mean, I am exhausted, but I've been exhausted for 6 years so it's not that different. lol

So sorry about your cat, coffeebean greensad.gif

HeatherB, you described exactly how I feel most days...I feel movement every day but it's not extreme or consistent and I feel better for the most part...I find it very disconcerting! I'm 16 weeks on Wednesday and had the same thought that I'm almost half way there!

cardigan, good luck on your first day tomorrow!

Leigh, yay for only 24 hour stomach flus...if you have to have one, that's the best kind winky.gif

Banana, I hope you have fun in Florida. Where abouts are you going? We were in Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Key West in October/November and had such a good time.

Afm: I'm consumed with packing and getting our place ready to be listed. We have started moving stuff into the new house already so we're lucky we have that option. I kind of just want to move in there asap so we can get set up but we don't know how long our place will take to sell and we are going to miss our place like crazy so feel like we should enjoy every last minute here!

I'm from central Florida. About 20 minutes north of Orlando.

Carmen- that's exciting! I'm ready to pack up and move too, but first I have to purge our belongings by about half O.o And, oh right, have a baby.

Sorry about kitty, Coffeebean, we just had to do that not long ago as well. I'm kind of itching for a new family friend (or two, if I can convince DH) at this point, there are so many more that need homes...

I had a short stint with the flu too, it started as indigestion on Friday night and by Saturday morning, I barely could stand upright I ached so much. Lost 3.5 pounds not eating for a day, so I am trying to catch up since I feel better today, just really tired. My midwife was so excited I had gained 10 pounds already, she wants to put some meat on my bones. wink1.gif I know, not a bad problem to have...*dodges tomatoes*

So sorry to hear about your kitty coffeebean. greensad.gif hug2.gif

We had to go through with that last year with one dog and will probably do it again with the remaining pup sometime in the relatively new future.

I've been fighting yet another cold for the last week, and looks like DS and DH may finally have caught it too.  I don't know how I'd make it through pregnancy without my neti pot.

Carmen, glad I'm not the only one! I really keep forgetting I'm pg. Then I worry there's something wrong. greensad.gif I wish I were feeling more movement so I'd know for sure. 16 weeks today but it's still sporadic.

I don't envy the movers! We packed up to show/move 3 years ago, while I was pg with my 2yo, but didn't end up moving until last October, and are just now getting our storage unit from 3 years ago back to unpack. I have to empty it into the formal living room this week so we can return the unit and be done with it. We'd figured on having it a few months, not years!! :/ My kids still remember several things in it, but most of the rest is heading to a garage sale.

Just had my midwife appt. Heard the heartbeat again...150 this time. What is the old wives' tale....under 150=boy?

I also booked my anatomy scan for March 27th!

Woohoo, Carmen! I don't know about wives' tales, but my boy has been about 150 lately. So I'm guessing you're having a boy too. :-)
